Introduction Dear customer, Congratulations on choosing an ADAM Audio S7A Mk2 main monitor! ADAM loudspeakers are built for maximum quality reproduction and audio perfection. With the S7A Mk2 you have selected one of the most ambitious speaker systems available. This main monitor meets highest expectations in sound quality and craftmansship. This manual is intended to provide you with information about your new ADAM. It contains important information regarding safety, setting up, handling, and warranty.

1. Quick Start 1.1 Important information for set up Acclimation: After having unpacked your loudspeaker, please allow the system to acclimate to the temperature of the room. Please do not connect the speaker for approximately an hour. HQ Cabling: We recommend using high quality cables to guarantee optimal performance. Solid stand: It is important to ensure the speakers stand firmly on a solid ground (if they are not wall-mounted)! Package: We recommend not to damage the package and to retain it.
2. Speaker Placement 2.1 General recommendations/advises Direct sound ways: There should be no obstacles in the way from the monitor to your ears. You should be able to see the speakers completely. Alignement: The loudspeakers should be aligned with the listener’s position. Nearby objects: Please note that vibrating parts of nearby objects can mask the sound. Tweeter at the height of ears: The tweeters should be positioned approximately at the height of your ears.
3. Controls/Speaker Adjustment 3.1 The front (control) panel On the front you will find a control panel that allows detailed fine-tuning of your monitors to your particular room acoustics and personal listening preferences. The following tips are intended to assist you at using the controls in the best manner. Figure 3: Control panel Please note that using the controls may have a great impact on the overall sound characteristics of your loudspeakers.
3. Controls/Speaker Adjustment 3.4 Driver gains Whereas the ‘Input Gain’ raises or lowers the overall input sensitivity up to +/-10 dB, the ‘Driver Gains’ work only within the corresponding frequency range, raising or lowering from +/-2 to +/-6 dB. 3.5 High / low shelving The other two controls operate in a different manner. The ‘High Shelve’ is a shelving filter that progressively raises or lowers above 6 kHz up to 6 dB.
4. Troubleshooting All ADAM products are designed and manufactured to the highest quality standards. However, if any problems with your speaker occur, we recommend to proceed as follows: 4.1 Problem: The LED shows normal operation (green) but there is either no or only a distorted audio signal. If both (all) speakers are affected, the reason can probably be found within the signal path. If only one speaker is affected, the problem will probably be within this speaker.
5. Maintenance Please switch the loudspeaker off before cleaning! Please note that the diaphragms build up a magnetic field. Do not play with magnetic items at close range to the diaphragms. Please make sure that no liquids get inside the cabinet. Do not spray any fluids on the speaker. Do not use a wet cloth for cleaning. Do not use flammable or acidly chemicals for cleaning. Do not touch the membranes of the loudspeakers. We recommend using a lint-free, damp cloth for cleaning.

Warranty ADAM Audio GmbH provides a five year limited warranty for this product. 9.1 Terms and Conditions This warranty is limited to the repair of the equipment or, if necessary, the replacement of parts or the product and return shipping within the country of purchase. This warranty complements any national/regional law obligations of dealers or national distributors and does not affect your statutory rights as a customer.
10. Safety Instructions Please read the following safety instructions before setting up your system. Keep the instructions for subsequent reference. Please heed the warnings and follow the instructions. Do not open the loudspeaker. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. In case of a problem, please contact either your ADAM dealer or us. We are happy to help. Always refer servicing to qualified personnel and never attempt to repair this product yourself.

1. Quick Start zur Inbetriebnahme 1.1 Allgemeine Hinweise zur Inbetriebnahme Akklimatisierung: Nach dem Auspacken und der Aufstellung des Lautsprechers sollte dieser ca. eine Stunde unangeschlossen ‚ruhen’, um sich der jeweiligen Raumtemperatur anpassen zu können. Einspielzeit: Bitte beachten Sie, dass mit der Qualität der Monitore die Ansprüche an die Einspielzeit steigen. Ein ADAM Monitor benötigt daher, abhängig von Pegel und Nutzungsfrequenz, einige Tage, um seine optimale Klangqualität zu erreichen.
2. Empfehlungen zur Aufstellung 2.1 Allgemeine Empfehlungen Direkte Schallwege: Vermeiden Sie Hindernisse im Wege des Schalls zu Ihren Ohren. Sie sollten die Lautsprecher komplett sehen können! Vermeiden Sie ferner eine Aufstellung neben stark schallreflektierenden Objekten. Wandabstände: Die Abstände zu Wänden sollten nicht geringer als 40 cm betragen, um ‘early reflections’ zu vermeiden. Ausrichtung: Die Lautsprecher sollten auf den Hörplatz hin ausgerichtet sein.

Empfehlungen zur Aufstellung Oder so: Abbildung 1b: spiegelsymmetrische Anordnung Die Lautsprecher sollten nicht so aufgestellt werden: Abbildung 2: falsche Anordnung 2.3 Zweikanal Stereo Die gemeinhin günstigste Lautsprecheraufstellung im Zweikanal-Stereobetrieb ist das so genannte ‚Stereodreieck’. Die Lautsprecher und der Hörer stehen bzw. sitzen in den Eckpunkten eines gleichseitigen Dreiecks (60°Winkel).
2. Empfehlungen zur Aufstellung 2.4 Mehrkanal (Surround) Die Aufstellung der Lautsprecher in einem Mehrkanal-Stereo-Setup sollte sich idealerweise an einem Kreis orientieren. Die Lautsprecher werden an den Winkelpositionen 0° (Center), 30° (Front Rechts), 110° (Rear Rechts), 250° (Rear Links) und 330° (Front Links) platziert. Der Zuhörer sitzt in der Kreismitte, die in diesem Fall einen Radius zwischen 0,7 und 2,0 Meter aufweisen sollte.
3. Lautsprechereinstellungen 3.1 Das Bedienpanel Auf der Vorderseite finden Sie neben dem Standby-Schalter ein Kontrollpanel, das Ihre Lautsprecher an die jeweilige Raumakustik bzw. den persönlichen Geschmack anzupassen ermöglicht. Die folgenden Ausführungen sollen Ihnen helfen, die Einstellungsmöglichkeiten optimal nutzen zu können. Abbildung 6: Kontrollpanel S7A Bitte beachten Sie: Die Nutzung dieser Einstellmöglichkeiten kann den Klang Ihrer Lautsprecher erheblich beeinflussen.
3. Lautsprechereinstellungen 3.4 Room EQs (Shelvefilter) Die beiden weiteren Regler funktionieren anders als die Gains. Während jene einen Frequenzbereich als ganzen anheben oder absenken, arbeiten die so genannter ‚Kuhschwanzfilter’ (Shelve Filter) progressiv, d.h., dass nicht ein ganzer Frequenzbereich gleichmäßig verstärkt oder abgeschwächt, sondern in diesem Bereich ab einem bestimmten Punkt (150 Hz bzw. 6 kHz in diesen Fällen) allmählich angehoben oder abgesenkt wird (s. Abb. 8 & 9).
4. Fehlerbehebung Alle ADAM Produkte werden nach höchsten Qualitätsstandarts gefertigt. Sollte wider Erwarten dennoch ein Problem auftauchen, empfehlen wir, zunächst folgende Maßnahmen durchzuführen: 4.1 Die LED zeigt normalen Betrieb an (grün), es wird aber kein oder nur ein gestörtes Signal ausgegeben: Betrifft das Problem beide Lautsprecher, liegt die Ursache zumeist innerhalb der Signalkette; betrifft es nur einen Lautsprecher, ist wahrscheinlich dieser die Fehlerquelle.
5. Wartung und Pflege Schalten Sie vor jeder Reinigung die Lautsprecher am rückseitigen Netzschalter aus! Verhindern Sie, dass Flüssigkeiten jeglicher Art ins Gehäuseinnere gelangen. Sprühen Sie weder Flüssigkeiten direkt auf das Gerät, noch nutzen Sie nasse Reinigungslappen. Bitte verwenden Sie keine brennbaren und ätzenden Chemikalien zur Reinigung dieses Produkts. Vermeiden Sie jede Berührung mit den Membranen der Lautsprecher.
8. Konformitätsbescheinigung Wir, die ADAM Audio GmbH mit dem eingetragenen Firmensitz in der Ederstr. 16, 12059 Berlin, Deutschland, erklären hiermit eigenverantwortlich, dass das Produkt S7A Mk2 den folgenden Normen entspricht: EN 61000-6-1 : 2001 EN 61000-6-3 : 2001 EN 55020 : 2002 EN 55013 : 2001 Ebenfalls stimmt es überein mit der EU General Product Safety 2001/95/EC, und richtet sich nach folgendem Standard: EN 60065 : 2002.
9. Garantie Die ADAM Audio GmbH gewährt auf Ihre aktiven Lautsprecher eine beschränkte Garantie von 5 Jahren. Alle Produkte werden nach den höchsten Qualitätsstandards entwickelt und hergestellt. Sollte ein Produkt wider Erwarten dennoch Mängel aufweisen, gelten folgende Bedigungen für die Inanspruchnahme der Garantie: 9.
10. Sicherheitshinweise Bitte beachten Sie die folgenden Sicherheitshinweise, bevor Sie Ihre neuen Lautsprecher in Betrieb nehmen. Öffnen Sie die Monitore nicht. Gefahr eines Stromschlages! Es befinden sich keine wartungsbedürftigen Teile im Gehäuseinnern. Bitte versuchen Sie auf keinen Fall, dieses Produkt selbst zu reparieren und wenden Sie sich bei einem Problemfall an Ihren ADAM Vertragshändler oder direkt an uns.
