Computer Access - the Vantage comes

computer. When connected correctly
using a free software programme such
as AACKeys or Serial Keys, the
Vantage will act like a computer
keyboard and mouse. You can also
programme special shortcut keys such
as website addresses.

message. The Franklin automatically
checks your spelling before the
message is spoken out loud.

The Language Master was originally
designed as an educational spelling
aid, but it can also be used as a simple
communication aid. It has a voice
output feature that allows you to spell
words, phrases or sentences, then

Type messages on the keyboard,
which has a built in keyguard. The
keyboard keys can be in a regular
QWERTY layout or setup in ABCD
order. Keyboard sensitivity can be
adjusted for users with tremor or other
fine motor difficulties.
Access:
Use spelling to prepare messages,
then press the Replay button to speak
the message.
Speed up your rate of communication
with:
• Abbreviation Expansion - speak
commonly used phrases by pressing a
logical sequence of keys. For
example, the letters M and N in
combination could be programmed to
say the message "My name is John. 
• "Text Prompting" - similar to word
prediction, the LightWRITER tries to
complete the word you are typing. For
example, if you type the letters H-O-L,
the LightWRITER might guess the
word "holiday."
• Pre-store longer memos of up to 250
characters.
Generating Language:
DECtalk synthesised output, providing
a choice of 10 voice "personalities."
Speech:
LightWRITERs are small light weight
text based communication devices.
LightWRITERs feature a dual display
screen: one for the user to view when
preparing messages and one visible to
the listener. The display is bright and
easy to see. The Standard
LightWRITER 35 (SL35) is the most
common LightWRITER, which is
suitable for people who can use a
keyboard to type their messages.
