Rosetta AD User’s Guide
Rear Panels, Controls & Connectors
Soft Limit – Allows you to get
maximum level on tape or disc
without “overs”. Acts like a sub-
tle, inaudible compressor. Press
and hold this button for 2 seconds
to enter or leave CAL Mode. The
LED flashes slowly in this mode
and the meters indicate 1 dB per
LED.
Optical Out – Sets the desired
output format from the rear-panel
optical connector: either ADAT or
S/PDIF (“TOSLink”)
Meter Clear – Press the button to
clear the “OVER” meter LEDs.
Level Trim – Adjusts the analog
level fed to the A/D converter.
LED Bargraph Meters – Indicate
the digital level from the A/D con-
verter. Read from –50 to 0 dBFS,
except in CAL mode.
OVER LEDs indicate the occur-
rence of one or more consecutive
0 dBFS samples. (Over definition
is set with rear-panel DIP switches
3 and 4).
Panel Decal – The logo in the top
right of the panel indicates which
version of the Rosetta AD you are
using. “44.1/48” is the standard
model, while the “high density”
(44.1/48/88.2/96 kHz sampling)
Rosetta 96 has a “96k” label here.
S/PDIF Coax Output – Delivers
standard S/PDIF output via RCA
connector. Does not produce use-
ful output at 88.2/96 kHz.
Optical Output – Delivers either
ADAT or TOSLink (S/PDIF
Optical) output as defined by the
front-panel button. 44.1/48 kHz
only.
Word Clock Output – Supplies
Word Clock to external systems
for synchronization. Often neces-
sary with TDIF machines. DIP
Switch 5 determines the output at
high sample rates.
AC Power Connector
connectors only. Refer to the manual for full operating instructions.
DIP Switches
– determine the
setting of various options. See
manual for details!
