Chapter 1 Preface This is a Preliminary version of the manual intended to provide advance information on the Addonics Technologies’ external Pocket CDRW drive. The information is as complete and as accurate as possible as of the publication date, but will be superseded and updated periodically by revised manuals. The contents are subject to change without notice.
Chapter 2 Getting Started This chapter will walk you through the installation of your external Pocket CDRW. Make sure that you have the following items: For CDRW with Firewire Cable ! Chapter 3 Interface Cable Installation USB interface Cable # We ship our unit with High Speed USB2.0 cable, which is capable of burning or copying CD faster than 4X speed. # Since USB 2.0 Hi-Speed is an evolution of the existing USB 1.1 specification, it is fully forward and backward compatible with current USB systems. # If your computer’s USB controller is only USB1.1 you can only achieve a 4X maximum writing speed. # If you do not have a USB2.0 port, you may install an optional USB2.
USB Cable Installation Attach the USB-IDE cable’s “MC 36 Connector” to your Addonics Pocket Drive firm and securely – you should not be able to disconnect the cable without pressing the release notch. CardBus / PCMCIA Interface Cable The Addonics CardBus/PCMCIA card has an option switch can allow you to choose using either PCMCIA mode or CardBus mode. The switch position is as follows: CardBus Front view Factory default setting is CardBus mode PCMCIA Side View Cardbus and PCMCIA selection switch. CardBus mode – move the switch to the side with the DOT indicator CardBus mode currently supports WIN 95/98/ME/2000/XP. For DOS, WIN 3.1x and WIN NT, the switch must be set in PCMCIA mode.
CardBus/PCMCIA driver Installation For Windows 95, 98, SE and ME (Do not run the SETUP program from the driver disk, SETUP Is for DOS or WIN 3.1 only) 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Power on your system and wait for the Desktop screen. Connect the CardBus/PCMCIA cable and external AC/DC adapter into the back of your CDRW Drive. Plug the CardBus/PCMCIA card end of the cable into the PCMCIA slot on the side of your computer. The system will automatically identify the new card and ask to load the driver.

Go to Start\Settings\Control Panel Double Click SCSI adapter icon Click on the Driver Tab Click Add to add new driver Follow wizard and browse to A:\NT folder for the Driver. Select “Addonics PCMCIA…” then click ok. Windows will prompt you for driver location again, to continue Type in A:\NT then click continue. Click YES to restart your computer. Note: You must insert the PCMCIA cable when system is off.
For Sony and Sharp Notebook users Alternative installation procedures If you encountered system locked up using our standard installation procedures (Most common with Window 98 SE, Sharp and Sony Notebook computers and computers with Ricoh Cardbus/PCMCIA Controller) please try to reinstall using the procedures outlined below: 1. Before installing the CardBus driver, make sure the CardBus is not Inserted into the PC Card slot. 2.
Chapter 4 Software Installation CD Mastering Software installation: 1. Load the CD Mastering S/W into the bottom tray of CDRW drive. 2. Click on the Install Button to start installation process. 3. Follow the On screen Wizard for installation. 4. Wait for a few seconds to finish the installation. 5. Restart the system when prompted. 6. You may now burn CD. Note: Serial Number or CD key can be found on the CD sleeve/envelope if ask. NEVER Loose the Envelope where the CD key is.
Chapter 5 Playing Audio CDs You can use the Addonics CDRW drive to play regular music CDs. • • To listen or Play audio CD’s through the computer, you may download the newer version of windows media player.
