Without the Optional Security Kit installed, the Adjust-A-Grate is
simply resting on the window well. It is not locked down and it
is not attached to the well. This is all that is needed to prevent
someone from falling in the basement window well.
For added security you can add the Adjust-A-Grate Security Kit
with Quick Release. Designed to secure your grate to the well
to deter removal and/or entry from outside the home while still
allowing for fast & easy egress in an emergency.
Adjust-A-Grate Security Kits have been engineered to specifically
attach to the Adjust-A-Grates. However, we have provided our best
recommendations if you need to modify how the security kits
attaches to a different style of grate by selecting the “Adaptation
Instructions” button at www.grate.com/installation
Measure the projection out from the house (in inches) to
determine the correct model of Security Kit for your well.
