Number of Decimal Places to Include Specifies the number of decimal places. This option is available only if you
select Cell Alignment.
Use Typographer’s Quotes Ensures that imported text includes left and right quotation marks (“ ”) and
apostrophes (’) instead of straight quotation marks (" ") and apostrophes (').
Tagged-text import options
You can use tagged-text format to import (or export) a text file capable of taking advantage of the InCopy formatting
capabilities. Properly tagged text can describe almost anything that can appear in an InCopy story, including
paragraph-level attributes, character-level attributes, and special characters.
For information on specifying tags, open the Tagged Text.pdf document, which is on the InCopy CD. Open the
Adobe Technical Info folder and look in the Tagged Text folder for the PDF file.
When you import a tagged-text file, the following options are available when you select Show Import Options in the
Place dialog box:
Use Typographer’s Quotes Ensures that imported text includes left and right quotation marks (“ ”) and
apostrophes (’) instead of straight quotation marks (" ") and apostrophes (').
Remove Text Formatting Removes formatting, such as typeface, type color, and type style, from the imported text.
Resolve Text Style Conflicts Using Specifies which character or paragraph style is applied when there is a conflict
between the style in the tagged text file and your InCopy story. Select Publication Definition to use the definition
that already exists for that style name in the story. Select Tagged File Definition to use the style as defined in the
tagged text. This creates another instance of the style with “copy” appended to its name in the Style palette.
Show List of Problem Tags Before Place Displays a list of unrecognized tags. If a list appears, you can choose to
cancel or continue the import. If you continue, the file may not look as expected.
To type Asian text using inline input
1 Choose Edit > Preferences > Advanced Type (Windows) or InCopy > Preferences > Advanced Type (Mac OS).
2 Select Use Inline Input for Non-Latin Text, and then click OK.
You can use a system input method, if available, for adding 2-byte and 4-byte characters. This method is especially
useful for entering Asian characters.
