Problem
Veloci t y dat a seems erratic or exhibits poor qual i ty.
Possible
Causes
Sensor’s transmit/recei ve surfaces may be dirty.
Sensor m ay be close to extending out of the flow.
Designated value f or the maximum velocit y parameter
may be too hi gh, creating too broad of a range.
Transmit Frequ en cy setting may be incorrect.
Sensor m ay be f aul ty.
Processor board may be faul ty.
Possible
Solutions
Clean the sensor’s trans mit/ receive surfaces.
Verify whether the flow depth exceeds the sensor
deadband at the same ti me and under the same
conditi ons as the erratic data. Rotate the sensor further
toward the center of t he pi pe i f possible.
Change the Transmit Fr eq uen cy. It shoul d be set to
High for optim al perf ormance.
Reduce the maximum velocity in the devic e parameters
to narrow the range.
Check the sensor connections.
Contact your regional ADS representative.
Replace the sensor.
Replace the monitor if def ective.
Problem
Veloci t y readings are abnormally hi gh.
Possible
Causes
Sensor’s velocity transmit/ receive surfaces may be
covered with silt or other debris.
Sensitivity s etting may be t oo hi gh.
Sensor may be extending out of t he f l ow.
Flow may be reversed or sl ower than (0. 5 f eet per
second (0.15 mps)
Possible
Solution
Check the site conditions, and rel ocate the sensor if
necessary.
Check the vel oc i ty parameters .
