JEEP T18 4 SPEED TRANSMISSION TO
CHEVY V8 ENGINES
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
This transmission is almost always found in the 8 cylinder V8 engine applications that were used in Jeep wagons and
pickups between the years of 1973 and 1981. The transmission can be identified by the long aluminum spacer that is
approximately 5" long. This adapter kit will require the customer to drill 4 new holes in the existing Jeep adapter housing
for assembling it to the new Advance Adapters plate. The original transmission input shaft must stick out approximately
13" from the front of the transmission. When replacing the original V8 engine with the Chevy V8, driveshaft
modifications can usually be avoided.
1. Remove the existing Jeep adapter and inspect it to make sure that it is similar to the illustration on Page 2.
2. The adapter plate will need to have 4 holes drilled and counter bored for assembling it to the new adapter plate that
we have supplied. New bolts have been furnished for bolting the 2 adapters together. With the two adapters
assembled, the transmission input shaft should protrude approximately 6-1/4" from the face of the adapter.
3. Install the new pilot bushing into the Chevy crank and make sure that it has proper contact with the transmission
input shaft.
4. The following Chevy parts will be necessary:
Clutch Release Bearing - N1430
Clutch Release Lever- 716176
Pressure Plate
Clutch Disc with 1-1/8"-10 spline
Flywheel
Bellhousing with small index diameter of 4.686"
