7.4 Do Not Pass Warning (DNPW)
The Do Not Pass Warning (DNPW) application is intended to warn the driver of the
vehicle during a passing maneuver attempt when a slower moving vehicle, ahead and
in the same lane, cannot be safely passed using a passing zone which is occupied by
vehicles in the opposite direction of travel. In addition, the application provides
advisory information that is intended to inform the driver of the vehicle that the passing
zone is occupied when a vehicle is ahead and in the same lane even if a passing
maneuver is not being attempted.

another remote vehicle is in the adjacent lane and drives in the opposite direction,
then host vehicle receives a warning from the DNPW.
