1. GENERAL INFORMATION Congratulations on your purchase of the FX-400. It is an advanced marine VHF communication transceiver offering Digital Selective Calling, an easy to use four line LCD display, and a separate Channel 70 receiver. NOTICE Unauthorized changes or modifications to this equipment may void compliance with Regulatory Agency Type Acceptance. Any changes or modification must be approved in writing by the manufacturer.

Prior to using your FX-400 inquire with your national radio communication authorities. 2.1 Digital Selective Calling (DSC) Capability You must obtain a nine-digit maritime mobile service identity (MMSI) and program it into the unit before you transmit.
3. BASIC RADIO COMMUNICATION PROCEDURE Distress or emergency calls may be made either manually or automatically. Sending distress calls automatically uses the Digital Selective Calling (DSC) functions of your transceiver and requires an operating and properly connected navigation receiver. The following procedures are for sending voice distress messages manually. Sending an automatic distress call is described in the DSC section of this manual. 3.
and by other vessels. Use of Channel 16 for calling or hailing must be limited to initial contact only. Calling should not exceed 30 seconds and may be repeated 3 times at 2 minute intervals. Prior to making contact with another vessel, determine which channel will be used for continued communication after the initial contact. Monitor the desired channel for traffic and, when clear, switch to Channel 16 to make initial contact. Listen for traffic on the Calling Channel (16).
• False distress or emergency messages (including false DSC distress). • Messages to “any vessel” except in emergencies and radio tests. • Messages to or from a vessel on land. • Transmission while on land. • Obscene, indecent, or profane language. 4. INSTALLATION 4.1 Transceiver Your FX-400 Transceiver is designed to withstand the rigors of the marine environment.
4.4 NMEA Cable In order for the position reporting/transferring features of your FX-400 transceiver to function, an operating GPS navigation receiver must be connected to your transceiver. The supplied data cable plugs into the 8 pin connector on the transceiver’s rear panel and the other end connects to the NMEA data output/input from your GPS navigation receiver. Your GPS must adapt for the $GPGLL/GGA/RMC/GNS NMEA data sentence.
4.7 Flush Mount Kit Installation 1. Cut the dash board using a template sheet included in the package. 2. Set the radio in the cut dash board. 3. Rotating the longer screw and set it to the hole of the plastic mount block. Firmly attach the bolt foot rotating to the top of the screw. (See Fig. 1) 4. Firmly fix the plastic mount block on the either side of the radio using shorter screw. Don’t forget to attach the washer. (See Fig. 2 and Fig. 3) 5.
5. OPERATION 5.1 General Your FX-400 is an advanced marine VHF communication transceiver offering the safety and convenience of Digital Selective Calling in addition to all the useful features found in the best conventional VHF radios. 5.2 Display and Controls The transceiver is operated using the front panel controls, the keypad, the Push To Talk (PTT) button and a keypad on the microphone.
5.3 Basic Operation Power On/Off Power to the transceiver is controlled with the VOLume knob. When the VOL knob is in the full CCW position the unit is turned Off. To turn the transceiver On: • Rotate the VOL knob CW until it clicks over the detent. backlight illuminates and the Power-On screen appears. Channel Selection When the transceiver is turned On, the Primary Calling Channel (channel 16) is selected. There are three ways to change channels: • Rotate the (SELECT/ENT) knob, press and hold the or keys, or directly enter the channel number using the numeric keys on the microphone. The and keys will always change channels except when being used to enter or edit a directory page.
The microphone keypad is used to change channels by directly entering the actual channel number with the through keys. The or keys step or scroll to a new channel. OPERATING PROCEDURES 6.1 Primary Calling Channel VHF Channel 16 (156.8 MHz) is the Distress Safety and Primary Calling Channel.
• Release the PTT button and listen for a reply. • Once contact is made on the Primary Calling Channel, each vessel must switch to a working channel to continue conversation. Refer to the channel chart for proper usage. • After communication is completed, each vessel must give its call sign or vessel name and switch to the Primary Calling Channel and resume listening watch. 6.
Scanning resumes, after a brief delay when the channel is clear. If the PTT is pressed, in reply to a received signal, scanning is cancelled. Priority Scan The Priority Scan function scans the Primary Calling Channel and the last selected working channel. To select Priority Scan: • key. Prior to obtaining an MMSI, you will be asked to provide certain information about your vessel and communication equipment.

Group Call You can arrange with other vessels to use a group MMSID so that any vessel in a group can contact all other vessels in the same group with a single DSC call. Your group MMSID is stored in the same manner as your ship MMSID. Only one group MMSID is stored at a time, but group MMSID’s can be changed as often as desired, allowing participation in more than one group.

The call log holds thirty two entries and the last call received is on top of the list. When the thirty third call is received, the oldest entry is lost. 8. ATIS OPERATION Your FX-400 can enable to operate ATIS (Automatic Transmitter Identification System) function if you are navigating on the inland waterways in Europe. ATIS function sends the data which identifies you at the end of the transmission. Also TX on channel 06, 08, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17, 71, 72, 74, 75, 76 and 77 is restricted to 1W. 8.1 ATIS SET To enable ATIS function: key. Menu topics appear in the display.

The following precautions will prevent damage to the transceiver. • Never press the PTT button unless an antenna or proper dummy load is connected to the antenna jack. • Do not operate the transceiver if the power source is not within the specified range of 11 to 16 Vdc. • Replace the antenna and/or coaxial cable if damaged in any way or severely weathered. • Avoid continuous direct sunlight on the LCD. • Avoid overextending the microphone cable.

9.5 Channel Assignments The Channel Assignment tables on the following pages list the channel number, frequency and usage for Marine VHF communication. Depending upon your selection, certain channels may be either simplex (single frequency) or duplex (two frequencies) as indicated in the tables. On simplex channels, your transceiver transmits and receives on the same frequency. On duplex channels, your transceiver transmits on one frequency and receives on another frequency.

1. ALLGEMEINE INFORMATIONEN Wir gratulieren Ihnen zum Kauf der FX-400, einer modernen UKW-Seefunkanlage mit DSC (Digital Selective Calling), einem einfach zu bedienenden LCD-Display und einem separaten Kanal- 70-Empfänger. Hinweis Nicht genehmigte Änderungen bzw. Modifikationen an diesem Gerät können gegen die in der "Regulatory Agency Type Acceptance" festgesetzten Vorschriften verstoßen. Jede Änderung bzw. Modifikation darf nur mit schriftlicher Genehmigung vom Hersteller durchgeführt werden.
Anwendung solcher Geräte in dem Land bzw. den Ländern gelten, in dem/denen er es anwendet, kennen und befolgen. In einigen Ländern muss für die Benutzung der Anlage eine Radiostationslizenz und/oder eine Bedienungslizenz angefordert werden. Bevor Sie das FX-400 einsetzen, erkundigen Sie sich bei den entsprechenden Behörden. 2.1 DSC-Fähigkeit Sie benötigen eine neunstellige MMSI-Nummer (Maritime Mobile Service Identity) und müssen diese in Ihrem Gerät vor der Inbetriebnahme einspeichern.
3. GRUNDREGELN FÜR DEN SEEFUNK Not- oder Dringlichkeitsrufe können sowohl manuell als auch automatisch getätigt werden. Notrufe (Distress-Call) sendet Ihr neuer Transceiver automatisch anhand der DSC-Funktionen. Dafür muss jedoch ein funktionstüchtiger Navigationsempfänger an das Gerät angeschlossen werden. Wie Sie automatische Notrufe aussenden, finden Sie im Kapitel “DSC-Funktionen”. Die folgenden Anweisungen sind für manuell durchgeführte Notrufe per Sprachübertragung bestimmt. 3.
Bevor Sie ein anderes Schiff anrufen, bestimmen Sie, welchen Kanal Sie nach dem ersten Kontakt für eine längere Kommunikation benutzen werden. Die Kanäle 68 und 72 (siehe Frequenztabellen am Ende dieses Handbuchs) sind für nichtkommerzielle (Freizeit-) Kommunikation verfügbar. Beobachten Sie den gewünschten Kanal und, wenn er frei ist, schalten Sie zu Kanal 16, um ersten Kontakt herzustellen. Verfolgen Sie den Funkverkehr auf Kanal 16.
• Meldungen an oder von Schiffen an Land. • Übertragungen vom Land aus. • Obszöne, vulgäre bzw. profane Ausdrücke. 4. INSTALLATION 4.1 TRANSCEIVER Ihr FX-400 Transceiver ist ein robustes, widerstandsfähiges und den Umweltbedingungen angepasstes Gerät. Trotzdem sollte es an einem geschützten Ort installiert werden, ins besondere um die Steckverbindungen, Bedienelemente und die LCD-Anzeige zu schonen. Es sollte einfach zu erreichen, weit genug entfernt vom Kompass und für den Bediener gut ablesbar sein.
4.4 NMEA-Kabel Für Positionsbestimmungen müssen Sie einen GPS-Navigationsempfänger an den Transceiver anschließen. Die mitgelieferten Datenkabelstecker werden in den 8-PinStecker auf der Rückseite des Transceivers und das andere Ende an den NMEADatenausgang Ihres GPS-Empfängers gesteckt. Ihr GPS muss die $GPRMC NMEADatensätze verarbeiten können. Lesen Sie dazu das Handbuch Ihres Navigationsempfängers. Anschlüsse der Geräterückseite 4.
4.7 Einbaumontage-Kit 1. Mit Hilfe der beigefügten Schablone, die Einbauöffnung aussägen. 2. Das Gerät in den Ausschnitt einsetzen. 3. Die längere Schraube wie gezeigt in den Montagewinkel einschrauben.Den Schraubenfuß auf die Schraube aufsetzen (siehe Zeichng. 1) 4. Den Montagewinkel von unten mit der kurzen Schraube an das Gerät schrauben. Nicht die Unterlegscheibe vergessen (siehe Zeichng. 2 und 3.) 5. Die lange Schraube festschrauben, um das Gerät gegen die Montageplatte zu pressen.
Frequenzbänder USA INT CAN MT-500 4 Zeilen je 11 Zeichen Kanal-Nummer für alphanumerische Info LCD-Display 5.3 Basis-Bedienung 5.3.1 Gerät ein-/ausschalten Der Transceiver wird mit dem VOL-Knopf eingeschaltet. Wenn Sie den VOL-Knopf ganz nach links drehen, schalten Sie das Gerät aus. So schalten Sie den Transceiver ein: Drehen Sie VOL nach rechts, bis Sie einen leichten Widerstand überwunden haben. Die LCD-Hintergrundbeleuchtung schaltet sich ein und die Startanzeige wird eingeblendet.
Nach circa 2 Sekunden erscheint die normale Kommunikationsanzeige. Mit und ohne GPS-Empfangsdaten So schalten Sie den Transceiver wieder aus: Drehen Sie den VOL-Knopf gegen den Uhrzeigersinn, bis der Widerstand überwunden ist. 5.3.2 Lautstärke und Rauschsperre Lautstärke (VOLume) und Rauschsperre (SQuelch) werden über separate Knöpfe eingestellt. Sie sind voneinander unabhängig, werden jedoch beim Einstellen des AudioAusgangs vom Lautsprecher gemeinsam bedient.
5.3.4 Verfügbare Kanäle Ihr FX-400 ist für den Einsatz über internationale UKW-Seefunkfrequenzen und autorisierte lokale Frequenzen konzipiert. Alle anderen Kanäle dürfen nur von dafür befugten Händlern programmiert werden (8-Pin-Com-Stecker), wenn eine entsprechende Genehmigung des jeweiligen Landes vorliegt. 5.3.5 Geräte-Tastatur Sobald eine Taste gedrückt wird, hören Sie einen Ton. Ein dreifacher Piepton ertönt, wenn eine unbefugte Taste gedrückt wird.
6. ERWEITERTE BEDIENUNG 6.1 VORZUGSKANAL Der UKW-Kanal 16 (156.8 MHz) ist der Notruf-, Sicherheits- und Vorzugskanal. Alle Schiffe, die nicht gerade kommunizieren, müssen stets über Kanal 16 auf Hörwache sein. 6.2 Senden Der Sender wird für normale Sprachübertragung durch Drücken des PTT-Knopfes (Push to Talk) auf dem Mikrofon aktiviert. Hören Sie stets zuerst den Kanal ab, bevor Sie senden. Ist er besetzt, warten Sie, bis er wieder frei ist.
Ist ein Arbeitskanal gewählt, z.B. Kanal 68 erfolgt durch Drücken von Taste [16] die direkte Umschaltung auf Kanal 16. Erneutes Drücken von Taste [16] schaltet sofort wieder zurück auf den gewählten Arbeitskanal 68. Es kann also nur durch jeweiliges Drücken von Taste [16] direkt zwischen einem eingestellten Arbeitskanal und Kanal 16 gewechselt werden. 6.4 Sendeleistungs-Umschaltung Der Sender verfügt über zwei Sendeleistungseinstellungen: 25 Watt und 1 Watt, die mit den Aufschriften HI bzw.
Zum Abbrechen der Zwei-Kanal-Überwachung, Taste [SCAN] oder Taste [16] drücken. All Scan – Suchlauf für alle Kanäle Der All-Kanal-Suchlauf tastet alle Kanäle außer Kanal 70 ab, da dieser der DSC-Kanal ist. Über diesen Kanal ist keine Sprachkommunikation erlaubt. All Scan Aktivierung [SCAN] Taste zwei Sekunden lang gedrückt halten. In der oberen Dipslay-Zeile erscheint 'ALL SCAN'. Beim Scannen wird immer der jeweils aufgerufene Kanal gezeigt.
[MEM] -Taste zwei Sekunden lang drücken. Danach ist der Kanal gespeichert und die Nummer wird in der Datenbank angezeigt. Wiederholen Sie diesen Vorgang für alle benötigten Kanäle. Wurden alle Kanäle hinzugefügt, ordnen sich die bestehenden Kanalnummern in aufsteigender Reihenfolge, so dass nun die Kanäle in logischer Folge erscheinen. Ist ein Kanal aufgerufen, der auch im Gruppenspeicher enthalten ist, erscheint in der zweiten Display-Zeile der entsprechende Hinweis.
Weitere Hauptmenüpunkte Befindet sich der Cursor auf dem gewünschten Menüpunkt, drücken Sie den [SELECT]Knopf. Jetzt werden Optionen oder Einstellungsmöglich-keiten angezeigt. Drehen Sie den [SELECT]-Knopf, um den Cursor zur gewünschten Einstellung zu schieben. Drücken Sie nun den [SELECT]-Knopf, um die neue Einstellung zu aufzurufen. Falls Sie Ihre Meinung ändern: Halten Sie die [CALL] –Taste gedrückt, bevor Sie den [SELECT]-Knopf im BearbeitungsModus betätigen.
BESONDERER HINWEIS Zeichen in den Namens- und ID-Feldern können entweder mit dem SELECT/ENT-Knopf oder den Mikrofon-Tasten eingegeben werden. Es können alle Buchstaben des Alphabets, Leerzeichen, die Zahlen von 0 bis 9, sowie Satzzeichen und einige Symbole benutzt werden. Das Leer-zeichen erfolgt nach dem Z im Alphabet, wenn Sie den SELECT/ENT -Knopf benutzen. Im ID-Feld können nur Zahlen eingesetzt werden.
• Tragen Sie nun die erste Nummer der MMSI-Nummer ein. Diese muss zwischen 0~9 liegen. • Drücken Sie die nächste Mikrofon-Nummerntaste oder den SELECT/ ENT-Knopf, um die erste Ziffer zu speichern und an die nächste Position zu springen. • Fahren Sie so fort, bis alle Ziffern eingegeben sind. Danach springt der Cursor automatisch zurück zur Namens-Zeile. • Sind Name und ID korrekt eingegeben, drücken Sie die [CALL]-Taste, um die Daten zu speichern und die Eingabe zu beenden.
• Drücken Sie SELECT/ENT bzw. halten Sie die [CALL]-Taste gedrückt, um die Einstellungen zu speichern und das Menü zu beenden. 6.7.3 KONTRAST (CONTRAST) Sie können den Kontrast auf dem LCD-Display für eine bessere Ablesbarkeit unter verschiedenen Lichtbedingungen regulieren. • Drücken Sie die [CALL] -Taste, um die verschiedenen Menüpunkte aufzurufen. • Mit SELECT/ENT bewegen Sie den Cursor zum Menüpunkt CONTRAST. • Wieder den SELECT/ENT-Knopf betätigen,um die CONTRAST-Einstell anzeige einzublenden.
Bevor Sie die Funktion einschalten, überprüfen Sie, ob die Daten korrekteingegeben sind. Die Zeiteingabe ist Ortszeit im 12-Stunden- oder 24-Stunden-Format. Es ist sehr wichtig, dass der Unterschied der Ortszeit zur koordinierten Weltzeit (UTC) korrekt eingestellt ist. Sehen Sie dazu den Menüpunkt TIME SET im Hauptmenü an. Manuelle Eingabe von Breite/Länge: • [CALL]-Taste drücken, um die Menüpunkte einzublenden. • Mit SELECT/ENT den Cursor zum Menüpunkt DATA SET bewegen. • Dann den SELECT/ENT-Knopf drücken.
• Geben Sie Ihre Ortszeit in Stunden und Minuten ein. Benutzen Sie das 12-StundenAM/PM-Format, wenn ein a oder p nach der Minuteneingabe erscheint. Mit SELECT/ENT oder den Mikrofontasten 0~9 wählen Sie nun zwischen a oder p. Erscheint kein a oder p nach der Eingabe, geben Sie die Zeit ganz normal im 24Stunden-Format ein. • Ist Länge, Breite und Zeit korrekt eingegeben, kehren Sie mit der [CALL] Taste zur MANUAL LL-Menüseite zurück.
• Wieder SELECT/ENT oder [SENT] drücken. Als Bestätigung wird kurz die Aufschrift STORED OK auf der untersten Zeile eingeblendet. • Mit der Taste [16] kehren Sie zur Hauptanzeige zurück. Geben Sie auf dieselbe Weise Ihre Gruppen-ID-Nummer ein. 6.7.6 ATIS Einstellung Siehe Punkt 8.1 ATIS SET im Kapitel 8. ATIS OPERATION. 6.7.7 Zeiteinstellung (TIME SET) Das Format für die Zeiteinstellung ist entweder das 12- oder das 24-Stunden-Format.
6.7.9 GPS-Alarm Mit dieser Funktion können Sie den GPS-Alarm ein- bzw. ausschalten ( ON/OFF). Im Normalfall ist er eingeschaltet. Sobald die Daten von Ihrem GPS Navigationsempfänger verloren gehen, ertönen jeweils 3 schnelle Pieptöne nacheinander und die Anzeige **GPS OFF wechselt auf der zweiten Zeile der normalen Kommunikationsanzeige mit der Datums- , Zeit- und Kanalanzeige (bzw. mit MEM CHANNEL und dem Kanalnamen, falls der angezeigte Kanal der Speicherkanal ist) ab.
• Bis zu elf Zeichen kann ein Kanalname umfassen. Werden mehr Zeichen benötigt, drücken Sie wieder auf SELECT/ENT, [SENT] oder [TEXIT], um den Cursor zum nächsten gewünschten Zeichen zu schieben. Werden keine weiteren Änderungen gewünscht, führen Sie den Cursor mit SELECT/ENT oder mit [SENT] zum letzten Zeichen. • Dort drücken Sie nochmals den SELECT/ENT-Knopf oder [SENT]. • Die Aufschrift STORED OK erscheint kurz zur Bestätigung der Speicherung auf der unteren Displayzeile.
Werden bei manueller Breiten- und Längenkoordinateneingabe die Daten nicht nach 23,5 Stunden aktualisiert, werden auf den Positionseingabe-feldern die Ziffer “9” und auf den Zeiteingabefeldern die Ziffer “8” angezeigt. 7.1 MMSI BESONDERER HINWEIS! Um DSC benutzen zu können, benötigen Sie eine 9-stellige MMSI-Nummer (Mobile Service Identity) und müssen diese in Ihren Transceiver vor dem Senden programmieren.
• Nach dem Sie eine Art der Notfallmeldungen ausgewählt haben, drücken und halten Sie den roten Knopf. Der weitere Vorgang, siehe oben. • Ein Alarm ertönt und nebenstehende Anzeige erscheint, während Ihr Notfallruf gesendet wird. • Mit dem Hinweis "WAITING" wird angezeigt, dass der Notruf übertragen wurde und das eine automatische Wiederholung erfolgt. DISTRESS! WAITING....
7.3.1 Notrufe von anderen Schiffen Fängt das FX-400 einen Notruf von einem anderen Schiff auf, ertönt ein Alarm und folgende Anzeige wird eingeblendet: Darauf sind Zeit des Notfalleintritts, die MMSI-Nummer des in Not geratenen Schiffs und die Längen- und Breitenkoordinaten abzulesen. Das Pluszeichen (+) weist auf eine weitere Displayseite hin. Wenn ungültige GPS- oder Zeitdaten empfangen werden, wird bei der Positionsanzeige an allen Stellen nur die Ziffer 9 und bei der Zeit nur die Ziffer 8 angezeigt.
Die MMSI-Nummer des in Not geratenen Schiffs und ACK sind auf der zweiten Seite angezeigt. Überwachen Sie die Situation über Kanal 16, um eventuell Hilfe leisten zu können. 7.3.
Das FX-400 kan auch die eigene Schiffsposition übermitteln sowie die von anderen Schiffen anfordern. Die Längen-/Breitendaten anderer Schiffe können (falls angeschlossen) an mit DSC ausgerüstete Kartenplotter übertragen werden. Sie können normale DSC-Rufe an andere Schiffe oder Küstenstationen ausführen oder auf DSC-Rufe von anderen Schiffen oder Küstenstationen antworten. Ausgehende Rufe tätigen Sie entweder durch das Auswählen des Schiffsnamen bzw. Küstenstationsnamen bzw.
HINWEIS Wenn Sie einen Anruf an ein Schiff absetzen, sind Dringlichkeit, Sicherheit und Routine wählbar. Wenn Sie eine Küstenstation anwählen, sind Notfall (Distress), Dringlichkeit, Sicherheit und Routine wählbar. Send Pos (Position senden) und Req Pos (Position anfordern) sind ebenfalls wählbar. • Mit den Mikrofontasten wählen Sie einen Arbeitskanal, auf dem Sie den Anruf tätigen können. • Mit der [CALL]-Taste übertragen Sie den Ruf. DSC-Rufe werden über den Kanal 70 abgewickelt.
• Mit SELECT/ENT oder [CALL] blenden Sie nun das SELECT CALL-Menü ein. • Mit dem SELECT/ENT-Knopf wählen Sie zwischen VESSEL oder STATION. Mit SELECT/ENT oder [CALL] erscheint das Menü CALL TYPE im Display. • Mit dem SELECT/ENT-Knopf wählen gewünschte Priorität (hier URGENT). Sie die HINWEIS Wenn Sie einen Anruf an ein Schiff absetzen, sind DRinglichkeit, Sicherheitund Routine wählbar. Wenn Sie eine Küstenstation anwählen, sind Notfall (Distress), Dringlichkeit, Sicherheit und Routine wählbar.
Warten auf Empfangsbestätigung Warten auf Empfangsbestätigung (Schiff) (Station) Sobald die Bestätigung eintrifft, erfolgt ein Alarm und die Aufschrift ACKRECEIVE erscheint in der unteren Zeile des Displays. HINWEIS Setzen Sie einen Anruf an ein Schiff ab, schaltet das Gerät automatisch aufden ausgewählten Arbeitskanal um. Wenn Sie eine Küstenstation anwählen, wird automatisch ein Kanal gewählt, den die Küstenstation bestimmt.
• Mit den Mikrofontasten wählen Sie nun einen Arbeitskanal, über den Sie den Ruf absetzen können. • Drücken Sie den [SELECT]-Knopf oder die Taste [CALL]. Es erscheint nun die Anzeige für die Verifizierung des Anruftyps. • Die Rufart muss nun verifiziert werden. • Mit der [CALL] -Taste senden Sie den Ruf ab. Die Meldung ALL SHIP’S WAITING erscheint im Display. Es wird je nach Priorität entweder DISTRESS, URGENT oder SAFETY angezeigt.
• Mit SELECT/ENT oder den Mikrofontasten wählen Sie nun einen Arbeitskanal aus. Dafür werden Ihnen vier für diese Rufart autorisierte Kanäle zur Auswahl angezeigt. Es können aber auch andere für Ihr Gebiet genehmigte Kanäle benutzt werden. • Drücken Sie die [CALL] -Taste. Der Anruf wird übertragen und die Anzeige SENT erscheint in der unteren Zeile des Displays. • Der Transceiver stellt automatisch den zuletzt benutzten Arbeitskanal ein. Horchen Sie, ob andere Schiffe auf Ihren Ruf antworten.
7.4.7 Position von anderen Schiffen anfordern (Position Request) Mit dieser Funktion können Sie die Position (Länge/Breite) anderer Schiffe, die sich in Ihrer Rufliste befinden, anfordern. Dazu gehen Sie folgendermaßen vor: • Drücken Sie die [CALL] -Taste, um das DSC-Anrufmenü anzuzeigen. Der Cursor markiert die Zeile INDIVIDUAL INT INDIVIDUAL >DIRECTORY • [SELECT]-Knopf oder [CALL] drücken, um das MANUAL INDIVIDUAL Menu zu öffnen. Mit dem SELECT/ENT-Knopf Menüpunkt DIRECTORY.
Der Gruppenruftyp kennt nur eine Priorität: Routine. Außerdem kann das FX-400 die eigene Schiffsposition senden sowie die Positionen anderer Schiffe anfordern. Breiten- und Längenangaben anderer Schiffe können (falls angeschlossen) an einen mit DSC ausgerüsteten Kartenplotter übertragen werden. Wenn Sie einen DSC-Ruf von einem anderen Schiff oder einer Küstenstation erhalten, ertönt ein Alarm und eine entsprechende Rufanzeige wird im Display eingeblendet.
Ruf ganz oben auf der Liste aufgeführt ist. Bei Empfang des 33. Anrufs wird der älteste Eintrag überspielt. Für DSC-Rufe aus dem Call Log gehen Sie genauso vor wie bei Anrufen aus dem “Telefonbuch” (Calling Directory). Für Rückrufe auf den zuletzt empfangenen Anruf oder einen anderen im Call Log eingetragenen Ruf INT INDIVIDUAL • drücken Sie die [CALL] -Taste. Es erscheint das GROUP DSC-Rufmenu.
7.5.4 Not- oder Dringlichkeitsruf an Alle Für eingehende Not- oder Dringlichkeitsrufe erfolgt die Bestätigungs-Prozedur abhängig davon, wie die Einstellung für "Auto CH Change" erfolgt ist. Ist die Einstellung auf ON (Werkseinstellung) gesetzt, schaltet das Gerät automatisch auf Kanal 16. Befindet sich dieses Schiff in Ihrer DSC-Rufliste, wird sein Name, so wie er in Ihrer Liste steht, eingeblendet.
8.1 ATIS-EINSTELLUNG So aktivieren Sie die ATIS-Funktion: • Halten Sie die [CALL] -Taste gedrückt, um das Menü einzublenden. • Drehen Sie den SELECT/ENT-Knopf, um den Cursor auf den Menüpunkt ATIS SET zu positionieren. • Nun den SELECT/EN -Knopf drücken. Das ATIS SET-Menü erscheint auf dem Display. • Nun mit dem SELECT/ENT-Knopf WATERWAYS auswählen, um die ATIS-Funktion zu aktivieren und automatisch die DSC-Funktion zu beenden.
HINWEIS Wenn Sie das FX-400 ohne Eingabe der ATIS ID-Nummer benutzen, wechselt das Gerät nicht in den Sendemodus. In diesem Fall ertönt sogar ein Piepton, wenn die PTT-Taste am Mikrofon gedrückt wird. Es erscheint auch keine Sende-Anzeige (TX) auf dem Display. 9. HINWEISE UND TIPPS 9.1 Wartung Der FX-400 Transceiver wird nach überprüften Verfahren und neuester Technologie hergestellt. Wird das Gerät mit entsprechender Vorsicht behandelt, so wird es eine lange Lebensdauer haben.

Je nach Auswahl können einige Kanäle sowohl Simplex- als auch Duplex-Kanäle sein (siehe Tabellen). Über Simplex-Kanäle sendet und empfängt der Transceiver auf ein und derselben Frequenz. Bei Duplex-Kanälen sendet der Transceiver auf einer Frequenz und empfängt auf einer anderen.

1. ALGEMENE INFORMATIE Hartelijk gefeliciteerd met de aankoop van uw FX-400. Dit is een moderne VHF-marifoon met DSC, een eenvoudig te gebruiken vierregelig LCD-display en een aparte ontvanger voor kanaal 70. KENNISGEVING Ongeautoriseerde wijzigingen of modificaties in deze apparatuur kunnen de officiële typegoedkeuring ongeldig maken. Alle wijzigingen of modificaties dienen schriftelijk door de fabrikant te woerden goedgekeurd. KENNISGEVING Deze marifoon is getest en voldoet aan EN-301 025-1 v1.3.

3. BASISPROCEDURES RADIOCOMMUNICATIE Noodoproepen kunnen zowel handmatig als automatisch gedaan worden. Bij het zenden van een noodoproep worden automatisch de Digitale selectieve oproep (DSC) functies van uw marifoon gebruikt. Hiervoor is een werkende en correct aangesloten GPS-ontvanger nodig. De volgende procedures zijn voor het zenden van handmatig gesproken noodoproepen. Het verzenden van automatische noodoproepen wordt beschreven in de DSC-sectie van deze handleiding. 3.

INSTALLATIE 4.1 Marifoon Uw FX-400 marifoon is er op gebouwd om de barre omstandigheden op zee te weerstaan. De keuze echter van een plaats die bescherming biedt tegen de elementen zal de levensduur van connectoren, bedieningspanelen en het LCD ten goede komen.
4.4 NMEA kabel Voor het functioneren van de positiebepalende functies van uw FX-400 marifoon dient u een GPS-ontvanger op uw marifoon aan te sluiten. De meegeleverde datakabel verbindt u de 8-pins connector aan de achterkant van de marifoon en het andere uiteinde sluit u aan op de NMEA data-uitgang van uw GPS-ontvanger. Uw GPS dient de dataregel $GPRMC/GGA NMEA output te geven. Raadpleeg de handleiding van uw GPS-ontvanger voor de NMEA-uitgangsinstellingen en – aansluitingen.
4.7 Flush Mount installatiekit 1. Maak een gat in het dashboard met behulp van de bijgeleverde sjabloon. 2. Plaats de marifoon in het gat. 3. Draai de lange schroef in het gat van de plastic steun. Plaats de voet stevig op de schroef. (zie fig.1) 4. Bevestig de steun aan de marifoon m.b.v. de korte schroeven. Vergeet niet de ringen te plaatsen (zie fig 2 & 3) 5. Draai de lange schroef aan, om de marifoon te fixeren (zie fig.4) Doe hetzelfde aan de andere zijde.
5. BEDIENING 5.1 Algemeen Uw FX-400 is een geavanceerde VHF-marifoon met, naast de veiligheid en het gemak van digitale selectieve oproepfunctionaliteit, alle nuttige functies van de beste conventionele VHF-marifoons. 5.2 Display en bedieningstoetsen De marifoon wordt bediend met de toetsen op het voorpaneel, het toetsenpaneel, de druk-en-spreektoets (PTT) en een toetsenpaneel op de microfoon.
5.3 Basisbediening AAN/UIT U zet de marifoon aan en uit met de VOLumeknop. Wanneer de VOL-knop volledig op tegen de klok in is gedraaid, staat de unit uit. Om de marifoon aan te zetten: • Draai de VOL-knop met de klok mee totdat deze over het palletje klikt. Het LCD-backlit licht op en het scherm Power-On verschijnt. Sommige kanalen geven meer achtergrondgeluid dan andere, het kan daarom nodig zijn bij het wisselen van kanalen of bij het scannen de instelling aan te passen. Kanaalselectie Wanneer de marifoon aan staat, is het primaire oproepkanaal (kanaal 16) geselecteerd. Kanalen kunnen op drie manieren gewisseld worden: • Draai de knop (SELECT/ENT), houd de toetsen of ingedrukt, of voer direct het kanaalnummer in met de numerieke toetsen op de microfoon.
Slaat kanalen op in de geheugenbank en start Memory Scan bij gebruik met de SCAN toets. Cancelt DSC-oproepen en noodoproepen. Toetsenpaneel, microfoon Het toetsenpaneel van de microfoon wordt gebruikt voor het wisselen van kanalen door direct het kanaalnummer in te voeren met de toetsen .Met de toetsen of t/m gaat u direct of scrollt u naar een ander kanaal. De volgende tabel toont de alfanumerieke karakters en symbolen op het toetsenpaneel van de microfoon.
• Beluister het primaire oproepkanaal om te controleren of dit vrij is. • Druk op de knop PTT. Spreek direct en met duidelijke stem in de microfoon. Zeg “(naam van het op te roepen vaartuig) THIS IS (naam van uw vaartuig en radioroepnaam)”. • Laat de PTT-toets los en wacht op antwoord. • Als het contact op het primaire oproepkanaal is gemaakt, dient ieder vaartuig naar een werkkanaal te schakelen om de conversatie voor te zetten. Raadpleeg het kanalenoverzicht voor juist gebruik.

Microfoontoetsen Reeks alfanumerieke karakters Space Daarnaast zijn er verschillende speciale tekens beschikbaar voor het invoeren van de naam met de SELECT/ENT knop. • Gebruik de SELECT/ENT knop of microfoontoetsen om het gewenste letterteken, cijfer of symbool te selecteren voor het eerste karakter. • Als u de SELECT/ENT knop gebruikt, druk dan na selectie van elk karakter op de SELECT/ENT knop of toets om het karakter in te voeren en de cursor naar de volgende positie te bewegen.

DSC BEDIENING Dankzij de digitale selectieve oproepfuncties (DSC) is uw FX-400 marifoon gebruiksvriendelijk voor al uw VHF-communicatie.

Uitgaande oproepen doet u door de naam van het station of vaartuig te selecteren in uw directory of door het MMSID-nummer van het station of vaartuig handmatig in te voeren (Position Send en Position Request kunt u uitsluitend vanuit uw directory uitvoeren). U kunt direct vanuit de oproeplog antwoorden, ongeacht het ontvangen oproeptype.

Als de laatst gebruikte handmatige MMSID wordt getoond, drukt u nogmaals op SELECT/ENT. • Gebruik de SELECT/ENT knop of microfoontoetsen om de MMSID van het op te roepen vaartuig of station te wijzigen.

Het type All Ship’s ontvangt de volgende prioriteiten: Distress ACK, Distress Relay, Urgency en Safety. Het type Individual ontvangt de volgende prioriteiten: Safety and Routine. Het type Group ontvangt één prioriteit: Routine. De FX-400 kan ook geavanceerde Individual Routine oproepen, Position Send en Position Request ontvangen. De Lat/Lon positie van een ander schip kan worden doorgestuurd naar de met DSC uitgeruste kaartplotter, mits deze is aangesloten.

Het signaal af zetten en later beantwoorden: • Druk op de SELECT/ENT knop. Het Reply scherm wordt nog steeds afgewisseld met Call Received. 8. ATIS OPERATION Op de binnenwateren in Europa kunt u gebruik maken van ATIS functie (Automatic Transmitter Identification System) op uw FX-400.
8.2 ATIS ID Om de ATIS functie te kunnen gebruiken, moet u een 10-cijferig ATIS ID in de marifoon programmeren. Deze ATIS ID is afgeleid van uw radioroepnaam. Als u niet weet hoe u deze 10 cijfers afleidt van uw radioroepnaam van uw schip, raadpleeg dan uw dealer. PAS OP U kunt deze gegevens slechts één keer invoeren. 9. REFERENTIE 9.1 Onderhoud De FX-400 VHF marifoon is gemaakt met bewezen processen en moderne solid state technologie. Uw FX-400 gaat lang mee, mits u voorzichtig met het toestel omgaat. Neem, om schade te voorkomen, de volgende voorzorgsmaatregelen in acht. • Druk alleen dan op de PTT knop wanneer een antenne of een geschikte dummy load op de antennestekker is aangesloten. • Gebruik de marifoon niet wanneer de voedingsbron afwijkt van het gespecificeerde bereik van 11 tot 16 V dc.
9.3 Foutafhandeling Troubleshooting Chart Probleem Mogelijke oorzaak Oplossing Marifoon gaat niet aan. Geen voeding, zekering opgeblazen, defecte bekabeling. Draai de VOL knop naar rechts, controleer zekeringkast, vervang zekering (6,3 Amp), controleer of kabel is aangesloten. De luidspreker maakt een zoemend geluid als de motor aanstaat.
