6.1 Introduction
The PCM-4825/4825L on board audio interface provides high-
quality stereo sound and FM music synthesis (ESFM) by using the
ES1868 or ES1869 audio controller from ESS Technology, Inc. The
audio interface can record, compress, and play back voice, sound,
and music with built-in mixer controls.
The PCM-4825/4825L on-board audio interface also supports the
Plug and Play (PnP) standard and provides PnP configuration for
the audio, FM, and MPU-104 logical devices. It is compatible with
Sound Blaster™; Sound Blaster Pro™ version 3.01, voice and
music functions. The ESFM synthesizer is register compatible with
the OPL3 and has extended capabilities.
6.2 DOS utilities
The ES1868/1869 audio controller supports PC games and applica-
tions for Sound Blaster™ and Sound Blaster Pro™ with no need for
a device driver in a DOS environment. The default setting for the
audio controller in DOS are listed as follows.

6.2.1 Changing settings in DOS
The audio controller setting can be changed in DOS environment
by using the DOS SETUP utility located in the UTILITY subdirec-
tory of audio driver diskette.
To change the setting, simply type DOSSET at the DOS prompt.
Follow the instructions on screen to choose the new setting for the
ES1868/1869 audio controller.
