Recovering from a System Crash
(Windows XP Embedded)
If you are using Windows XP Embedded, follow these steps to
perform a recovery procedure using a USB flash drive should your
system crash:
1. Download the FORMATUPD.EXE file to your local drive
(C:\).
2. Connect a USB flash drive to your
computer.
3. Click Start > Run and type cmd in
the command box.
4. Type cd\ and press Enter.
5. Type FORMATUFD F: /y
6. Copy the files from the
Windows XPE Recovery
folder on your local drive to the USB flash drive.
7. Connect the USB flash drive and a keyboard to your S10A
and turn on the computer.
8. Press the Del key repeatedly during boot up to enter the
BIOS screen.
9. Highlight Advanced BIOS Features and press Enter.
10.Highlight Hard Disk Boot Priority and press Enter.
11.Highlight your USB flash drive from the list and press + to
move it up until it is at the top of the list.
12.Press F10 to exit the screen.
If you are using an SD card for data storage,
your S10A will follow the recovery procedures
to re-boot your system.
