OPERATION
Before charging batteries
ƒ
If the battery must be removed from the vehicle before charging, always discon-
nect the earthed connector from the battery first. Also ensure all other loads in
the vehicle are off.
ƒ
Ensure adequate ventilation to allow any toxic vapours or gasses to disperse.
ƒ
Ensure the battery poles are clean. If the battery has a removable vent cap, fill
each battery cell with distilled water to the manufacturer recommended level. Do
not overfill the cells.
ƒ
If the battery does not have caps, refer to the manufacturer instructions on char-
ging and the charging speed.
Connecting the battery
Risk of electrical shock!
Always verify the charging device is disconnected from the 230 V AC
outlet when connecting to a battery..
ƒ
Always ensure the area around the battery is well ventilated during the charging
process.
1. Before connecting verify the switch is set to the desired voltage:

12 V
ƒ
24 V
2. Connect the positive charging clamp (red) to the positive battery terminal
(marked P or +).
3. Connect the negative charging clamp (black) to the body of the vehicle, or in
exceptions to the negative battery terminal (marked N or -).
4. Verify both terminal clamps make good contact with the respective terminals.
5. Plug the power plug into a suitable AC mains outlet
The green “ON” LED (4) is lit.
In the event it is connected with reverse polarity the “Reverse Connection” LED will
light up red and charging will not start.
