6.2.5 LEDs
Power LED
This signals that the supply voltage is connected. If this LED does
not light up, please check that the supply voltage is connected cor-
rectly.
Status LED
This flickers when there is any network activity on the serial port.
Periodic flashing indicates that the port has a valid connection to
another network station.
Error LED
This uses different flashing codes to indicate error statuses on the
COM server or the serial port.
1 x flashing = Check network connection
The COM server cannot receive a link pulse from a switch or a
hub. Please check the cable or the network components.
2 x flashing = Check serial data format
At least one mark with a parity/frame error was received on the se-
rial port. Please check that the set serial parameters and the serial
data cable are correct.
All LEDs on = Self-test fault
The self-test performed after each start or reset of the COM server
could not be terminated correctly. This fault can occur if you have
cancelled an update of the COM server prematurely.
Please refer to the supplied manual on the CD-ROM from W&T for
more information about the COM server.
6.2.6 Installation of the Virtual COM Port
In order to communicate via the COM server, it must be integrated
into the network and a virtual COM port must be set up on a com-
puter.
6.2.7 Network Integration Configuration
For network integration you will need a free IP address for the
COM server, the subnet mask and the IP address for the gate-
way. This information can be obtained from your administrator if
necessary.
Now please remove the product CD from the W&T quick-start
instructions supplied and start this CD-ROM on a computer in
the same subnet as the COM server, then please install the
"WuTility" tool.
Use the "Scan" button to search the local network for W&T de-
vices. If several devices are found, please select the device to
be configured on the basis of its Ethernet address. This can be
found on the sticker on the COM server, and starts with
EN=00c03dxxxxxxxxx.
Select the required device and press the "Assign IP address"
button. Please enter the necessary parameters here.
Save and exit; the COM server is now installed in the network.
