Operating Instructions 1 Safety The safety aspects of AEG electrical appliances comply with accepted technical standards and the German Appliance Safety Law. However, as manufacturers we regard it as our responsibility to inform you about the following safety instructions. Before Using for the First Time • Refer to the "Installation and Connection Instructions" further on in this user information.
Child Safety • Packaging materials (e.g. films, polystyrene) can be dangerous for children. Risk of suffocation! Keep packaging away from children. • Children frequently cannot recognise hazards involved in handling electrical appliances. Therefore, ensure that they are properly supervised during operation and never allow children to play with the washing machine -there is a risk that they can lock themselves inside it. • Ensure that children or small animals do not climb into the washing machine's drum.
2 Disposal Disposing of the Packaging Material! Dispose of the packaging of your washing machine correctly. All pakkaging materials used are environmentally-compatible and recyclable. • Plastic parts are identified with internationally standardised abbreviations: >PE< for polyethylene, e.g. packing films. >PS< for polystyrene, e.g. cushion parts (always CFC-free) >POM< for polyoxymethylene, e.g. plastic clips.
Switching on the appliance for the first time – setting the language When switching on the appliance for the first time you must set the language in which you want the indicators in the display to appear. 1. Turn the appliance on by pressing the control knob so that it is no longer flush in the control panel. The display in the middle of the control panel will illuminate, and the appliance is switched on. The selection of possible languages will appear in the right of the display.

Main control features This chapter describes how to set a large number of functions and combine them with each other using only a few control elements (1 control knob and 4 buttons). This simple control method is made easy thanks to the interactive display. Interactive means that the washing machine display changes to reflect each step you have entered. This ensures that only those settings that make sense are made.
Navigation display The functions are detailed over levels and pages within the washing machine display. Level 3 (Current level) Level 2 Level 1 One level can include a number of pages. Current page Total number pages You can see from the navigation display which level and page you are currently on (here: level 3, page 1 of 2). Control knob and pages You can highlight the entries on the right of the display by turning the control knob. Turning the knob anti-clockwise moves the area highlighted down.
Buttons and levels Using the buttons you can: – select the option that is next to the button on the right, e.g. START; – change settings, e.g. temperature; – change to another display level, e.g. using the OPTIONS button. 1. Overview of functions Programmes (level 1) Wash programmes LINEN/EASY-CARE Wash programme (20 °C to 60 °C) for cottons/ LINEN/EASY-C. 60°C 1800 RPM 10:17-12:16 coloureds (cotton/linen), easy-care (mixed fabî rics, e.g. cotton/polyester) and synthetics. LINGERIE Gentle wash programme which washes at 40 °C for fine and delicate fabrics. Important: Place padded lingerie in a washing net or bag. 40°-60° MIX Programme for coloureds when various wash temperatures are indicated for the items to be washed. Various items which according to the care labels are usually washed separately at 40 °C or 60 °C can be washed together in the 40°-60° MIX programme. In this way the drum capacity is better used and energy is saved as a result.
STARCH Separate starching, separate conditioning, separate impregnating of damp washing (1 rinse cycle, liquid conditioner is rinsed in from the w additive compartment, spin). This programme setting can also be used to carry out a separate rinse cycle. In this case, you do not need to add anything to the additives compartment. 3 DRAIN Draining of water following a rinse hold (without spinning). Rinse hold means: The washing is left to soak in the final rinse water; it is not spun.
DELAY START The DELAY START option allows the start of a wash programme to be delayed. The DELAY START option can be set at 30-minute intervals. The current time and the programme end time will be shown in the display (e.g. 14:23 - 20:28). SENSITIVE S A special additional function with considerably more effective rinse function (additional rinse cycle) an improved fabric care at the same time (reduced drum movement).

Preparing a Wash Load Sorting and preparing a wash load • Sort the washing according to care symbol (see “Washing Types and Care Symbols”). • Empty all pockets. • Remove metal objects (paper clips, safety pins etc.). • In order to prevent the washing tangling and being damaged: close zippers, button up duvet covers and pillow cases, and tie up loose straps such as from aprons. • Turn articles with double layered fabric inside out (sleeping bags, anoraks etc.).
Types of washing and care symbols Care symbols help you to choose the correct wash programme. Washing should be sorted by type and according to care symbols. The temperatures indicated on the care symbols are the maximum wash temperatures. Cottons O Cotton and linen items with this care symbol are not sensitive to machine washing or high temperatures. The COTTONS programme is suitable for such items. Coloureds M J Cotton and linen items with this care symbol are not sensitive to machine washing.
Washing Detergents and Care Agents Which washing detergent and care agent? Use only washing detergents and care agents which are suitable for use in washing machines. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions.

Carrying out a wash programme prior to first use Prior to washing your first load, carry out a wash cycle without washing (LINEN/EASY-C. 60°, with half the amount of detergent). This will remove residues remaining as a result of the production process from the drum and water container. 1. Press the control knob. The appliance is switched on. 2. Place the detergent in the left compartment of the detergent drawer. 3. Press the START button. The wash programme will start. LINEN/EASY-C.
Performing a wash cycle Opening and closing the door 3 • To open: pull the handle on the door. • To close: firmly push the door shut If the O symbol is showing in the display, the door can be opened. If the N symbol is showing in the display, the door is blocked. If the error message PLEASE CLOSE THE DOOR is showing in the display, you have attempted to start a wash programme without having correctly shut the door. Should this happen, firmly press the door shut and restart the wash programme.
Adding detergents/conditioners 3 For instructions on the use of detergents and conditioners, please see the section “Detergents and conditioners”. 1. Open the detergent drawer: close your fingers around the flap at the bottom of the drawer (1); pull out the drawer as far as it will go (2). 2.
3 If using liquid detergents/tablets: Add the liquid detergent or tablets using the measuring container provided by the detergent manufacturer. Follow the instructions on the detergent packaging. Setting a wash programme 1. Press the control knob. The appliance is now switched on. 2. Use the control knob to highlight the desired wash programme, e.g. DELICATES. Starting a wash programme 3 1. Check that the water tap is open. 2. After you have set the wash programme and any options, press the START button. The wash programme will start. Wash programme progress Each current stage of the programme is shown in the display during the wash programme, e.g. main wash, and a bar showing the programme progress. The N symbol is displayed as the programme progresses: the loading door is locked. When the wash programme is complete 3 3 When a wash programme is complete, PLEASE TAKE OUT THE CLOTHES will appear in the display. If you do not press any buttons or press the control knob within three minutes of the programme finishing, the washing machine will switch into standby mode. The stand-by mode is cancelled by pressing one of the buttons or turning the knob. If EASY IRON has been selected, a crease prevention cycle of approx. 30 minutes takes place after the programme has ended.
3. Press the START button. – If short spin is selected the water will be drained and the washing gently spun. – If drain is selected the water will be drained (without being spun). Unloading the washing If the O§symbol is shown in END the display, the door can be O§ opened. PLEASE TAKE OUT THE CLOTHES 1. Open the door using the ############### handle. MOISTURE 32 % 2. Remove the washing. 3. Press the control knob. The appliance is now switched off.
MEMORY Saving a programme setting 3 The MEMORY basic setting can be used to save frequently-used programme combinations (wash programme, temperature, spin speed and option/s). There are four memory cells available for this purpose. The saved programme can then be selected in the same way as any other wash programme. Extras cannot be saved using MEMORY. They must be set separately and remain active until they are cancelled. Example: LINEN/EASY-C., 40 °C, 1200 RPM spin, with SENSITIVE option. 1.

Changing the language You can change the language setting if you would like the indicators in the display to appear in a different language. 1. Press the control knob. 6. Use the control knob to highlight the desired language, e.g. English. As soon as the language is highlighted, the indicators in the display will change to this language. 7. Use the SELECT button to save the selected language. All indicators in the display will immediately appear in this language.
Cleaning and Care Control panel Important! Do not use any furniture cleaning agents or aggressive cleaning agents in order to clean panel and control parts. Wipe control panels with a damp cloth. When doing so, use warm water. Detergent Drawer The detergent drawer should be cleaned from time to time. 1. Pull the detergent drawer out as far as it will go. 2. Remove the detergent drawer by pulling sharply. 3. Take the conditioner insert out of the middle compartment. 4.
7. Use a brush to clean the entire rinsing-in section of the washing machine, particularly also the nozzles on the top side of the rinsingin chamber. 8. Set the detergent drawer into the guide tracks and push in. Washing Drum The washing drum is made of stainless steel. Rusting foreign bodies in the washing can cause rust deposits on the drum. Important! Do not clean the stainless steel drum with decalcifying agents containing acids, scouring agents containing chlorine or iron, or steel wool.
What to do if... Remedying a malfunction In the event of a malfunction, try to rectify the problem yourself with the aid of the instructions provided here. If you request a visit from customer service to remedy one of the malfunctions listed here, or to rectify an error made when using the appliance, the customer service engineer’s visit will not be free of charge, even during the warranty period.

The maximum pump height (outlet height 1m from the washing machine’s installation surface) has been exceeded. Contact Service Force, who will be able to provide an adaptor kit for pump lifts greater than 1m as a special accessory. The drain pump is clogged.
If the washing results are not satisfactory If the washing has turned grey and if limescale is deposited in the drum, then • Too little detergent was used. • The wrong detergent was used. • Special soiling was not pre-treated. • Program or temperature not set correctly. • If multi-component detergents are used, the individual components were not used in the correct ratio. If there are still grey spots on the washing, • Washing soiled with ointments, grease or oils was washed with too little detergent.
Carrying out emergency drainage 1 • If the washing machine no longer pumps off the washing solution, emergency drainage must be performed. • If the washing machine is in a room where there is a risk of frost, emergency drainage must be performed if there is a possibility of frost. In addition: unscrew the inlet hose form the water tap and place it on the floor. Empty the drainage hose. Warning! Switch off the washing machine before performing emergency drainage and pull out the mains plug.
When the water is completely drained: 6. Push the plug securely into the emergency drainage hose and turn it clockwise to secure it. 7. Replace the emergency drainage hose in its holder. 8. Put on the flap and close. Drain pump The drain pump is maintenance free. The cover of the drain pump must only be opened in the event of a malfunction when no more water is being pumped out, e.g. if the pump is blocked.
5. Replace the pump cover. Laterally insert the webs on the cover into the guide slots and screw on the cover in a clockwise direction. 6. Close the emergency emptying hose and place it in the holder. 7. Close the flap. Anti-flood system Aqua Control + Aqua Alarm In the event of damage to the supply hose, the system blocks the further supply of water to the unit directly st the water tap.
Child Safety Feature If the child safety feature is set, the filling door can no longer be closed and no washing program can be started Setting the child safety feature Use a coin to turn the rotary knob on the inside of the filling door clockwise as far as it will go. 1 Warning! The rotary knob must not be in a vertical position after adjustment, otherwise the child safety feature is not active. The rotary knob must project as shown in the diagram.
Consumption values and load sizes Consumption values The values for selected programmes provided in the following table were determined under normal conditions. As well as being dependent on the settings selected (additional functions), the consumption values are also dependent on external factors such as water temperature or detergent used. Nonetheless, they serve as a helpful guide for normal household use.

Installation and connection instructions Installation Safety Precautions • Do not tilt the washing machine onto its front or onto its right side (viewed from the front). Electronic components can get wet. • Check the washing machine for transport damages. A damaged unit must never be put into operation under any circumstances. In the event of damage, please contact your supplier.
Installation of the appliance 3 Washing machines with curved panels are not suitable for installing under units. Transporting the appliance • Do not place the washing machine on its front or on its right side (viewed from the front). Otherwise, electrical components can get wet. • Never transport the unit without the transport safeguard. Do not remove the transport safeguard until the appliance is at the installation location. Transporting the unit without the transport safeguard can damage it.
3 2. Pull both hose holders off the appliance with a strong pull. The special spanner (A) and the caps (B) (2 each) and (C) (1 each) are supplied with it. 3. Remove the screw D, including the compression spring with the special spanner A. 4. Cover the hole with the cap C. Important! When fitting the plastic caps, press until they snap into the rear panel securely. 5. Remove the two screws (E) with the special spanner (A). 6. Remove the 4 screws (F). 7. Remove the transit bar (G). 8.
Prepare the installation place • The installation surface must be clean and dry, free of floor polish residues and other greasy coatings so that the unit does not slip away. Do not use lubricants as a sliding aid. • Installation on a high-veil carpet or floor tiles with soft sponge backs is not recommended because the standing safety of the appliance is then no longer ensured. • By installation surfaces with small-format tiles, lay a conventional rubber mat underneath.
Installation on vibrating floors Where the floor vibrates, particularly in the case of wooden beam floors with pliable boards, securely screw a water-resistant wooden panel at least 15mm thick onto at least 2 floor planks. If possible, set up the unit in the corner of a room, as the wooden floor is optimally restrained there and is therefore least likely to be subject to resonance vibrations.
Electrical connection 5 Details of the mains voltage, current type and required fuses can be found on the rating plate. The rating plate is located at the top above the filling door. For permanent electrical connection within the electrical circuit, provisions must be made which allow for electrical disconnection of the appliance from the mains with a contact opening of at least 3 mm at all poles.
Water inflow 3 A pressure hose 1.5m in length is supplied. If a longer inflow hose is required, only a VDE-approved, complete set of hoses with fitted hose screw connections offered by our Customer Service is permissible. – Hose sets in lengths of 2.2m, 3.5m and 5m are available for washing machines without Aqua-Control. – Hose sets in lengths of 2.0m, 2.9m and 3.9m are available for washing machines with Aqua-Control.
Water drain The drainage hose can either be connected to a siphon or hung in a wash basin or discharge basin or a bath tub. Only original hoses may be used for extensions (max. 3m laid on the floor and then up to 80cm high). Customer Service stocks drainage hoses in lengths of 2.7 and 4m. Important! It is essential to lay the drainage hose without kinks. Water drain-off inside a siphon The grommet on the hose end fits all standard siphon types.
