1. Important safety information To prevent fire or smoke damage Have your appliance properly installed and grounded by a qualified technician. The installation must conform with local codes or, in the absence of local codes, in accordance with the National Electrical Code ANSI/NFPA 70 or the Canadian Electric Code, CSA C22.1. Before using the range make sure all the packing materials have been removed.
DO NOT allow children to climb or play around the range. The weight of a child on an open door may cause the range to tip, resulting in serious burns or other injury. Teach them not to play with controls or any other part of the range. Wear suitable clothing NEVER wear loose-fitting or hanging clothes while using the range. Be careful when reaching for items stored in cabinets over the cooktop. Flammable material could be ignited if brought into contact with a hot surface and may cause severe burns.
Oven care Fig. 1.1 Use care when opening the door. Let hot air and nn steam escape before removing or replacing food (Fig. 1.1). NEVER heat unopened food containers. Pressure nn build up may make container burst and cause injury. Use the right size pan General safety instructions This appliance is equipped with cooktop zones of different sizes. Use utensils with flat bottoms. DO NOT use unstable pans and position the handles away from the edge of the cooktop. This appliance is provided with rollers to facilitate nn movement during installation. The range should not be moved after installation. This appliance must be installed by a competent person in accordance with the installation instructions.
NEVER leave a deep fry pan unattended. Always nn heat fat slowly, and watch as it heats. Deep fry pans should be only a maximum of one third full of fat. Filling the pan too full of fat can cause spill over when food is added. If you use a combination of oils or fats in frying, stir them together before heating, or as the fats melt. Foods for frying should be as dry as possible. Frost on frozen foods or moisture on fresh foods can cause hot fat to bubble up and over the sides of the pan.

We recommend stainless steel, enamelled steel pans or cast iron pans with enamelled bases.
The very best pans have bases that are very slightly curved up when cold (Fig. 2.4). If you hold a ruler across the bottom you will see a small gap in the middle. When they heat up the metal expands and lies flat on the cooking surface. Fig. 2.4 Make sure that the base of the pan is clean and dry to prevent any residue burning onto the cooktop panel. This also helps prevent scratches and deposits. Always use pans that are the same size as (or slightly larger than) the areas marked on the cooktop.

When a cooking zone is switched off the residual heat indicator symbol [H ], will appear in the display. This shows that the cooking zone temperature is above 140 °F (60 °C) and may still cause burns. Once the temperature has dropped to below 140 °F (60 °C) the [ H ] will go out.
Low temperature/simmer setting, L1/L2 Maximum Operating Time Power Level This function should only be used when heating nn from cold. Each cooking area is equipped with 2 low temperature settings: • L1 will maintain a temperature of about 104 °F (40 °C) – ideal for gently melting butter or chocolate. • L2 will maintain a temperature of about 194 °F (90 °C) – ideal for simmering (bring the pan to the boil and then select L2 to keep soups, sauces, stews, etc at an optimal simmer).

To fit the telescopic shelf runners 1. With the runner arm in the closed position locate the opening of the upper rear slot onto the side support (Fig. 2.18).

Lift the rear of the shelf upward so that it will pass over the shelf stop and then pull it forward (Fig. 2.23). 2. Fit in the reverse order, making sure to push it fully back. 4. Cooking tips When the oven is on, DO NOT leave the door open for longer than necessary, otherwise the knobs may get very hot. Cooking with a multi-function oven REMEMBER: not all modes are suitable for all food types. The oven cooking times given are intended for a guide only. • Always leave a ‘‘finger’s width’’ between dishes on the same rack. This allows the heat to circulate freely around them.
5. Cooking table DocNo.031-0004 - Cooking table - electric & fan single cavity The oven control settings and cooking times given in the table below are intended to be used as a guide only. Individual tastes may require the temperature to be altered to provide a preferred result. Food is cooked at lower temperature in a fan oven than in a conventional oven. When using recipes, reduce the fan oven temperature by 25 °F and the cooking time by 5-10 minutes.
6. Cleaning your range Essential information Before thorough cleaning, turn off the circuit nn breaker. Allow the range to cool. After cleaning remember to switch on the circuit nn breaker before using the range. NEVER use paint solvents, caustic cleaners, nn biological powders, bleach, chlorine based bleach cleaners, coarse abrasives or salt. DO NOT mix different cleaning products – they may nn react together with hazardous results. Recommended cleaning materials are shown in Table 6.1 on page 21.

For best results use liquid detergents. The control panel and control knobs should only be cleaned with a soft cloth wrung out in clean hot soapy water – but take care that no surplus water seeps into the appliance.

Cleaning table Cleaners listed (Table 6.1) are available from supermarkets or on line at www.aga-ranges.com. For enamelled surfaces use a cleaner that is approved for use on vitreous enamel. Regular cleaning is recommended. For easier cleaning, wipe up any spillages immediately. 7. Troubleshooting All servicing and repairs must be carried out by a nn qualified service engineer. Steam is coming from the oven When cooking foods with a high water content (e.g. oven chips) there may be some steam visible at the rear grille. Take care when opening the oven door, as there may be a momentary puff of steam when the oven door is opened. Stand well back and allow any steam to disperse.

Located at the bottom left and right rear corner of the range, remove the two screws (Fig. 12.8). 2. Fit the left and right retaining brackets to the base frame and refit and tighten the screws (Fig. 12.8).

Inside the top of the side panel top are two tabs.

Push the ends of the plastic clips (Fig. 12.13 and Fig. 12.14) to release the catches holding the drawer to the side runners. At the same time pull the drawer forward and away from the side runners. Carefully move the drawer back between the rails and rest it on the side rails. 3. At each side, hold the front of the drawer and pull the side rail forward so that the clips click into position, holding the drawer to the side rails (Fig. 12.22).
