About This Manual
The Structure of this Manual
This manual is divided into 4 parts:
• “Getting Started” on page 31 tells you how to set up
your Mini-OTDR.
• “Additional Features” on page 67 shows you what you
can do with your Mini-OTDR.
• The Sample Sessions (starting “Sample Sessions:
Measuring a Trace” on page 81) give you a step-by-
step guide to making typical measurements and using
other Mini-OTDR features.
• The appendices contain additional information not
required for routine day-to-day use.
Conventions used in this manual
• Mini-OTDR keys are indicated by small capitals, for
example R
UN/STOP, SELECT.
• Menus are indicated by small capitals enclosed by
square brackets, for example [S
ETTINGS], [FILE].
• Menu items are indicated by small capitals enclosed by
angled brackets, for example [F
ILE]<OPEN>, <SET
O
FFSET>.
• Modes are indicated by italics, for example OTDR
mode, Fiber Break Locator.
• Dialog is indicated by Courier font, for example OK.
