Step 4. Check the Local Area Connection icon to confirm whether the network connection is
enabled or disabled. The meaning of the icon is shown in the right of Figure 4-20. If the
connection is disabled, Double-click the Local Area Connection icon.
Step 5. Set up the IP address/subnet mask as follows.
a. Click the Local Area Connection icon with the right button and click “Properties”. This
opens the "Local Area Connection Properties” dialog box as shown in Figure 4-21.

b. Click "Internal Protocol (TCP/IP)” icon.
c. Click the "Properties" button. This opens the "TCP/IP Properties" dialog box as shown
in Figure 4-22.
