4. Adjusting the EV compensation Adjusting the EV (exposure value) compensation helps you to gain better effect when the picture appears too bright or dark. 1 2 mode Rotate the Mode dial to 1 . Back light Select this item to increase the brightness value of the subject when the subject is lit from behind light. Black and white Change the shot to black and white.
6. Setting the language When you switch the camera on for the first time, the LCD display may not be shown in your local language. You can set the LCD display language by using the method below. Enter the menu and select the LANGUAGE item In the mode, press the MENU/OK button to enter the menu. Use the Control buttons to highlight the LANGUAGE item, then press the MENU/OK button to enter the submenu.
7. 9. Setting the date stamp Enabling the date stamp will print the date of shooting on the picture. Use the Control buttons to highlight the DATE STAMP item, then press the MENU/OK button to enter the submenu.
10. Real-time display on TV Connect your camera and TV via an AV cable for real-time display. You can preview the screen of the camera and display your still pictures and video clips directly on TV screen. 1 2 Set TV to AV mode Turn on your TV and switch to the AV mode. Enjoying your Images on the Computer 1. Installing DSC 5000 ! For Windows ME/ 2000/ XP users: Windows Media Player Codecs and Direct X 8.0 or above are necessary for viewing the video clips recorded by the camera. You can skip DSC 5000 installation if you are sure Windows Media Player Codecs and Direct X 8.1 have been installed in your computer previously. 1 2 3 Turn on your computer. ! Do not connect the USB cable to your computer at this stage.
4 When the "Install Shield Wizard" dialogue box (Fig 1) is occurring, click "Next". Then follow the on-screen instructions to continue. Troubleshooting Question Answer When using the camera The camera has no power. The batteries may be out of power, please change the batteries. Cannot power on my camera even though batteries are installed. Make sure that the batteries are installed correctly. Cannot take pictures and movies when pressing the Shutter button. The storage is full. Please free some space of the SD/MMC card or flash memory.
The image is too blurred. Use the auto focus correctly when taking picture. (p. 11) Keep the camera steady while pressing the Shutter button. You may need to take pictures or movies in the place with adequate light, use the flash strobe or adjust the EV compensation. Noise occurs on my camera when viewing the image on the LCD display or on the computer. Set the filter matching the place you are staying. Please refer to the "More on flicker" section on page 47.
