2 Basic setup and operation
Power options
The Windows 10 Pro operating system comes with pre-defined power options (Balanced,
Power Saver, and High Performance). To access Power Options:
1. On the Desktop, tap the Battery icon in the Notifications bar at the bottom right of the
screen, then tap Power & sleep settings.
2. Make sure Power & sleep is selected in the list on the left, then under Related settings,
tap Additional power settings.
By default, the tablet is in Balanced mode.
You can also set the times for the screen to turn off, and the device to go into Sleep state
here.
Sleep state
If you do not use your device for a number of minutes (as set under Power & sleep settings
/ Power & sleep) the screen turns off and the device goes into a power-saving Sleep state.
The Sleep state enables your device to resume quickly when you want to start working
again.
You can also manually place the device into Sleep state; tap-hold
, then tap Shut down
or sign out/ Sleep.
TIP You can also access the Sleep option from the quick-access Power options above the
icon; tap , then tap the quick-access Power icon, then tap Sleep.
To wake the device from Sleep state, press the Power button. After waking your device, to
unlock it:
1. Swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen.
2. At the sign-in screen, tap
Sign in and if required enter your password or PIN.
NOTE Sleep state is different from the screen 'turning off' to save power, from which you can
'wake' the screen by tapping / swiping it.
Restarting the device
To restart your device, tap-hold , then tap Shut down or sign out/ Restart.
TIP You can also access the Restart option from the quick-access Power options above
the
icon; tap , then tap the quick-access Power icon, then tap Restart.
Turning off the device
To turn off the device, tap-hold , then tap Shut down or sign out/ Shut down.
