PRECAUTIONS Before connecting the AC cord (LH model only) * □ LH model has an AC VOLTAGE selector. Make sure that the AC VOLTAGE selector Is set to the position matching your local voltage. If it is not correctly set, change it with a screwdriver or a similar tool. Either 110-120V or 220-240V can be selected. On placement • Do not use the unit in places which are extremely hot, cold, dusty or humid.

POWER SUPPLY Using on batteries ^ □ To insert the batteries 1 Open the iid of the battery compartment. 2 insert eight R14 (size C) batteries. Insert them with the O and © marks correctly aligned. 3 Close the lid. • Make sure that the FUNCTION switch is set to POWER OFF/TAPE before inserting batteries. • Before using on batteries, disconnect the AC cord from the AC inlet. Battery power is cut off automatically when the cord is connected. • No batteries are supplied with this unit.

LISTENING TO A COMPACT DISC 1 Set the FUNCTION switch to CD. OPE/BATT indicator turns on. 0 is displayed in the TRACK display. 2 Open the disc compartment. 3 Piace a disc in the center with the iabei side up and close the disc compartment. Total number of tracks on the disc is displayed in the TRACK display. 4 Press the ►ll PLAY/PAUSE button to start CD play. Track number is displayed in the TRACK display. 5 Adjust the volume and tone. LISTENING TO A COMPACT DISC Repeat play ^ 13 REPEAT REPEAT o To repeat a track "9" Press the REPEAT button during play of the desired track. REPEAT indicator flashes. When the track finishes play, it is played again from the start. To repeat all tracks of the disc Press the REPEAT button twice. REPEAT indicator lights. When the last track on the disc finishes play, the entire disc is played again from the start.

PLAYING BACK A TAPE This unit plays back the side facing the cassette holder. 1 Set the FUNCTION switch to POWER OFF/TAPE. 2 Insert a cassette. MAINTENANCE To clean the cabinet Use a soft cloth lightly moistened with a mild detergent solution. Do not use strong solvents such as alcohol, benzine or thinner. To clean the heads and the tape path ^ □ To maintain optimum sound quality, clean the recording/playback head @, erasure head ®, pinchroller ©, and capstan ®, regularly (every 10 hours of use). Use a cotton swab @ lightly moistened with cleaning fluid or denatured alcohol.
