material definitions & benefits
Materials Denitions & Benets
Each resin has properties that make it ideal for a specific purpose. We manufacture our plastic products using the grade most suited to the product’s
end use. Listed below are the quality resins we use and their attributes. NOTE: The “Use Temperature Range” defined below is dependent, and may
vary with the end user’s application. Akro-Mils reserves the right to change product materials without notice.
Casters & Wheels
material definitions & benefits
A generous selection of caster and wheel options allows Platform Trucks, Hand Trucks, Dollies
and Shelf Carts to be customized to fit hundreds of applications, surfaces and conditions.
Caster and wheel choices allow you to resolve problems of noise control, floor protection,
impact and abrasion resistance or load capacity.
Caster Types Akro-Mils oers other premium casters for your custom products – call 800-253-2467 for details.
Thermo-Plastic
Gray rubber wheel provides excellent
floor protection and a cushioned ride
while resisting chemicals, acids, oils
and caustic substances.
Pneumatic
Air-filled for excellent shock protection,
floor protection and easy operation
over rough surfaces.
Mold-On Rubber
Designed for medium to heavy loads, these
wheels with cushioned rubber tread are
quiet and provide good floor protection.
Polyolefin
A heavy-duty, lightweight, non-
marking plastic wheel that resists most
chemicals and oils, and has excellent
impact resistance.
Polyurethane
Chemically bonded to a metal core,
polyurethane wheels are more durable
than other materials, deliver excellent
mobility, a cushioned ride and long life
when subjected to heavy loads.
Phenolic
For demanding applications, a less
expensive wheel that offers high
strength, is non-marking, non-
conductive and protects floors.
Steel
Wheels offer least rolling resistance.
A good choice for warehouses and
manufacturing operations and where
noise or floor protection are not a concern.
