1. Preparation
1.3 Preparing required items
To set up a Switch, prepare the following in addition to the Switch, components, and
accessories.
 Operation terminals
Prepare a personal computer or a workstation that supports the specifications in the
following table.

#1: The communication speed of the CONSOLE port on the Switch is set to 9600
bps when shipped from the factory.
 RS-232C crossover cable
To connect an operation terminal to the CONSOLE port of the Switch, use a
RS-232C crossover cable with a D-sub 9-pin (female) connector on both ends and
use #4-40 inch-screws. The following figure shows the pin arrangement of an
RS-232C crossover cable.

 Interface cables
An interface cable is necessary to connect to other devices. For details about
interface cables, see the AX6300S Hardware Instruction Manual.
