Battery management for 500Ex Dect (Explosive environment)
A new feature is available for the 500 Ex DECT Handset which deals with the aging of the battery.
A new software analyses regularly the status of the battery, and informs the end user with a pop up on the
screen of the handset when the battery needs to be replaced, in order to avoid a possible degradation of the
battery and handset damage.
This new software (from software version 20.01) can be downloaded from the Enterprise Business Portal, and
can be installed in your handset by your administrator.
When the battery needs to be replaced the following pop up appears on the screen :

Here are some frequently asked questions (FAQ) regarding the battery and its replacement.
What should I do when the warning appears on the screen of the handset ?
You are invited to replace the battery as soon as possible, to avoid degradation of the battery and possible
damages.
Please buy a new battery from your ALE dealer.
What are the risks incurred if I don’t replace the battery ?
The autonomy of the handset in use will decrease rapidly, due to a decrease of the battery capacity.
The battery could inflate and damage the handset, in that case the handset is no longer compliant to ATEX
certification.

Battery charge icon flashes when
the phone is on the charger
Recharge your telephone battery regularly. The telephone can be on or off when recharging the
battery. If the telephone is to remain unused or out of its charger for several weeks, remove the
battery and store it separately.
The phone battery or the spare battery pack is fully charged when the charger LED (white) is off.
