Chapter 1 Overview This chapter contains the following sections: “Features” on page 16 “AT-CV5M0x Management Card” on page 18 “AT-CVMNT12 Wall-Mount Bracket” on page 19 “Blank Slot Cover” on page 20 “Power Adapter” on page 21 “Network Topologies” on page 23 15
Chapter 1: Overview Features The AT-CV1200 and AT-CV1203 chassis look physically the same, as shown in Figure 1. These chassis are dual-slot chassis for Converteon media converter line cards and the AT-CV5M0x Management Card. You can use the chassis as an unmanaged device by installing line cards in both slots, or you can add management capability with the AT-CV5M0x Management Card. The management card gives you management control over the line card located in the other slot.

The AT-CV5M0x Management Card is shipped with the management software preinstalled that allows you to configure and monitor the status of the media converter line cards in the chassis. Note The AT-CV120x supports only one AT-CV5M0x Management Card at a time. The AT-CV5M01 Management Card is shown in Figure 3.
AT-CV120x Two-Slot Chassis Installation Guide AT-CVMNT12 Wall-Mount Bracket The AT-CVMNT12 Wall-Mount Bracket, shown in Figure 4, is a bracket designed to mount an AT-CV120x chassis and one or two AC power adapters on the wall. 1015 Figure 4. AT-CVMNT12 Wall-Mount Bracket For instructions on how to mount the AT-CV120x chassis on the wall, using the bracket, refer to the installation guide shipped with the bracket.
Chapter 1: Overview Blank Slot Cover The AT-CV5PNL1 blank slot cover is designed to maintain optimal, trouble-free environmental conditions for the AT-CV120x chassis. An unoccupied line card slot on the AT-CV120x chassis should be covered with a blank slot cover to keep dust from getting into the chassis and maintain proper airflow, cooling, and ventilation throughout the chassis. Figure 5 illustrates the AT-CV5PNL1 blank slot cover. 222 Figure 5.
AT-CV120x Two-Slot Chassis Installation Guide Power Adapter The AT-CV120x chassis uses a two-part AC power adapter (supplied) as shown in Figure 6. 517 Figure 6. AC Power Adapter Note The AT-CV120x chassis is shipped with one power adapter. To order an additional power adapter for redundant power, contact your local Allied Telesis sales representative. For the AC power requirements, refer to “Power Specifications” on page 43.

AT-CV120x Two-Slot Chassis Installation Guide Network Topologies This section describes the network topologies you can create with the AT-CV1200 Two-Slot Chassis. Figure 8 illustrates a standalone topology using an AT-CV1200 chassis with two AT-CM202 line cards, one of which is used to interconnect two small networks. Network 1 has an AT-FS709FC switch connected to the 100Base-FX port on the AT-CM202 line card in the AT-CV1200 media converter.
Chapter 1: Overview Back-to-Back Topology Figure 9 shows a back-to-back topology using two AT-CV1200 chassis with two AT-CM202 line cards, with one line card in each chassis used to interconnect two small networks. The media converters themselves are connected together through 100Base fiber optic ports on AT-CM202 line cards. Network 1 has an AT-8350GB switch connected to the 10/100Base-TX port on the AT-CM202 line card in the first AT-CV1200 media converter.
