Chapter 8: File Downloads and Uploads

General Guidelines

Here are the general guidelines to uploading or downloading files to the

master switch of a stack for the web browser windows:

 You have to use TFTP.

 There has to be a node on your network with the TFTP server

software.

 You should start the TFTP server before you begin the upload or

download procedure.

 The stack must have a routing interface on the local subnet from

where it reaches the TFTP server. The master switch uses the IP

address of the interface as its source address to communicate with the

server. If the stack does not have a routing interface, you can upload

or download files from a local management session on the switch

using Xmodem.

 You cannot use the web browser windows to upload or download files

to the compact flash memory card in a switch.
