A port connected to a network node
that is not a Powered Device — that is, a
device that receives its power from another
source — functions as a regular Ethernet
port, without PoE. The PoE feature remains
enabled on the port, but no power is
delivered to the device.
Power Budget
Users should ensure that the maximum
power drawn by all the PDs does not
exceed the maximum power that can be
delivered by the PSE. If this occurs, the
switch will use a predetermined algorithm
to decide which ports will receive power.
