9.3Boot PROM Removal and Installation
The type of socket used for the boot PROM on your Roadrunner board requires a
special IC removal tool. See the illustration below for more information:
The boot PROM IC used on
Roadrunner boards requires
a specialized tool for its
removal. If you attempt to
remove the boot PROM
using a screwdriver or
pocketknife, you could
easily damage both
the chip and the
socket. Use a chip
extraction tool like this,
which is available at retail
stores that specialize in
electronic components.
