Architects' And Engineers' Specifications
The intercom system kit(s) shall be Alpha Communications® /
S.T.R.™ 'DPK' series or approved equal. Ultracompact door station
shall be surface mount, only 3.25" (83mm) wide, and shall include
a built-in voice amplifier, built-in speaker/microphone, built-in rain
hood and (1,2 or 3 SPECIFY) pushbutton(s). System shall be
powered by a low-voltage plug-in transformer (provided in each
kit).
Each kit shall contain (1,2 or 3 SPECIFY) inside handset stations,
in White plastic, with electric door release capability. Optional
pushbutton illuminated L.E.D. PC board is available (and requires
separate 8VAC transformer).
Contractor shall furnish and install a (compatible) electric door
release, and related components, if required. Where required,
contractor shall furnish and install an optional model PK407A
specialty door release relay unit.
Contractor shall observe all local and national electrical and
building codes.
'DPK' Series Compact Door Phone Intercom Kits
The Alpha Communications®/S.T.R.™ 'DPK' series intercom kits are
a low cost alternative to conventional apt. or entry intercom
systems for 1, 2 or 3 inside handset stations. Each inside handset
station requires only two (2) wires from the door station.
The ultra-compact door station is only 3.25" (83mm) wide and has
a built-in voice amplifier. It easily mounts right on the surface of
the wall and has a built-in rain hood. There are no visible mounting
screws from the front, and built-in L.E.D.(s) illuminate the push
buttons. All that is required to power the system (and door
opener) is a plug-in transformer (included in each kit).
The optional PK407A door opener relay allows connection to other
voltages and types of door openers.

Wiring Requirements
Run a 2-conductor #22AWG cable from the Door Station to
each inside handset station, up to 250 feet. For runs up to 1,000
feet, use a 2-conductor (shielded) #18AWG cable. Run a separate
2-conductor #18AWG cable from the system transformer to the
Door Station, up to 50 feet. Run a separate 2-conductor #18AWG
cable from the Door Station to the optional electric door opener,
up to 50 feet. Additional wiring (and 8VAC transformer) required
for pushbutton L.E.D. illuminator PC board(s).
NOTE: The audio and door opener and transformer cables
must be in separate jackets and not in the same cable jacket.
