Architects' And Engineers'
Specifications
The power supply/amplifier(s) shall be Alpha
Communications® / S.T.R.™ model VCU309, or
approved equal. Amplifier shall operate from a
24VAC (40VA) U.L. Listed transformer (model#
T2440). All wiring to power supply/amplifier shall
be low-voltage Class II wiring, installed as per all
federal, state, and local electrical codes. Power
supply/amplifier shall surface mount right to the
finished wall and shall be installed in a suitable
environment that is free from excessive dirt,
dust, temperature, humidity, grease and water.
Power supply/amplifier shall provide the intercom
amplification and signaling power for
proper system operation. For most secure
installation, power supply should be installed into
a lockable equipment cabinet/housing.
Power supply/amplifier(s) shall be installed a
safe distance from any source of electrical
interference.
VCU309 Amplifier/Power Supply
The Alpha Communications® / S.T.R.™ VCU309 amplifier/power supplies are used
with the S.T.R.™ 'NoCoax' type video-intercom systems, to provide intercom
amplification, power to operate the electric door opener(s) etc., and power to
operate the video monitor units.
The VCU309 units each require a 24VAC (40VA) low-voltage Class II transformer for
power. Use our model T2440 (12VAC) plugin transformer for each VCU309.
These VCU309 amplifier/power supplies are designed to easily surface mount right
onto the finished wall by means of customer supplied screws or the convenient
plastic 'Din Rail' bracket supplied with each power supply. Connections are positive
screw terminal type.
The VCU309 is used for each 30 (or less) 'NoCoax' type video intercom monitor /
handset stations on a system.

Wiring Requirements
Basic video-intercom riser wiring shall be 4-common #22AWG and 1 selective wire
#22AWG, for each video monitor station connected to the riser cable. Add one (or
more) additional common and/or selective wires for any optional functions required,
or for 'spare' wires. See system wiring manual for more complete wiring information.
