Switching the subtitles
(subtitle language)
With DVDs on which multiple subtitle languages
are recorded, the subtitle language can be
switched during playback; moreover, subtitles
can be hidden.
1 During playback, press and hold the SUB T.
button.
The subtitle switches between the languages
recorded on the disc each time the button is
pressed; moreover, the subtitle is turned OFF.

NOTES
There may be a delay before the selected subtitle
appears.
Not all discs will allow changing the subtitles during
playback. In these cases, select subtitles from the
DVDs menu.
The subtitle language selected becomes the default
setting every time the power is turned on or the disc is
replaced. If the disc does not include that language,
the disc’s default language is selected instead.
For some discs, the subtitles will be displayed even
when this is set to off.
1 During playback, press the DISP button.
The playback status is displayed.
2 To change the setting ...
Move the Joystick up or down to select the item
you want to set, then move the Joystick left or
right to change the setting.
3 Press the ENTER button. The setting is entered.
NOTE
For some discs, the setting may be entered after the
operation in step 2.
4 Press the DISP button once more to turn the
display off.
NOTES
For some discs it may not be possible to change the
setting.
The “TITLE TIME” setting cannot be changed.
This operation cannot be performed using the DISP
button on the main unit.
Tips
Switching from the disc menu
For some discs, the audio language,
angle and subtitles can be switched from
the disc menu.
1Press the MENU or TITLE button (for
at least 2 seconds), select the item,
then press the ENTER button.
2Use the Joystick to select the
language or angle, then press the
ENTER button.
(For some discs, they can be selected
using the number keys (“0” to “9”)
while the language or the angle menu
is displayed.)
Displaying the disc status and
changing the settings
Use the procedure described below to display
the status (title number, chapter number, etc.) of
the currently playing DVD on the monitor screen.
Moreover, the settings can be changed.

Displaying the disc status and
changing the settings
Use the procedure described below to obtain an
on-screen display of the status (track number, etc.)
of the currently playing video CD or music CD.
Additionnally, the settings can also be changed
from this display.
1 During playback, press the DISP button.
The playback status is displayed.
