Figure 6–3 shows the digital components of the Stratix GX receiver that
are active in GigE mode.

The GigE mode receiver architecture includes:
Word aligner
Rate matcher
8B/10B decoder
Receiver phase compensation FIFO buffer
Word Aligner
The word aligner is composed of a pattern detector and synchronization
state machines. The word aligner cannot be bypassed, but if the
application is not using the rx_enacdet signal, the word aligner does
not alter the data. Figure 6–4 shows the various components of the word
aligner. The “Pattern Detector Module” and “Synchronization State
Machines” sections describe the functionality of the main components.
