ISLAND LEGS INSTALLATION AND WOOD FINISHING TIPS

Things needed:

 Island leg posts

 Pencil

 Wood Glue

 Drill and drill bit

 Measuring tape or ruler

 Screw driver

 Hardwood for frame

 Wood saw

 Chisels

Prepare:

 Measure the Kitchen Island Legs to the proper height of the countertop

 Make a mortise and tenon on each side of the Kitchen Island legs.

There are several ways in attaching post to a Kitchen Island, please note the idea explained here is one of the

traditional ways to install it.

Install:

 Good quality wood glue can be used to join the tenon to the mortised Kitchen Island leg.

 Continue with the same process with all Kitchen Island Leg.

Staining Woods Tools:          Paint Brush Rags Pre-Stain Wood Conditioner Oil or Acrylic-based Wood Stain Oil or Acrylic –based Polyurethane Sealer 120 Grit and 220 Grit Sandpaper Cheese Cloth towels Goggles Protective mask Prepare: Decide which Type of Stain to use. You could use either an Oil base or Acrylic based Stain. Whichever you decide, you will also be using the same type of Sealer to finish up the staining process.

Steps: 1. SANDING. American Pro Décor hardwoods are mostly ready to be stained. However, there will instances where the wood will need to be sanded down to remove scratches etc. Then brush off any debris so that you could go onto the next step. 2. PRE-STAINING WOODS. Not all wood are uniform in color or texture also woods are porous with different densities. Therefore, wood will absorb stain in an uneven manner.
