Characteristics
A single component watertight acrylic coating designed to
restore older deck surfaces. For use on decks, fences, rails,
walkways, and ramps. Suitable for use on properly prepared
exterior wood, and concrete/masonry surfaces.

Surface Preparation
Surface must be cleaned to remove all contaminants,
mildew, chalk, loose paint, and other foreign matter that
can impede adhesion
If cleaning with any detergent/deck cleaning product the
area must be thoroughly rinsed and dry before coating
application
Sand surface with medium grit sandpaper to achieve a
sound stable natural surface
Concrete surfaces must have the appearance of 80 grit
sandpaper before coating
Application Instructions
Review product Application Guide before proceeding.
Contact Ames Research Laboratories Technical Service
Department for questions pertaining to the coating system
application and required coating film thickness. Conduct a
test patch to ensure proper adhesion.
Safe-T-Deck® is not to be used over Elasto-Barrier®
Primer
Apply between 50° - 90° F on a warm dry surface. Surface
temperature must be 5 degrees F higher than the dew
point and rising. Do not apply if rain is likely with 24 hours
or if the air or surface temperature will drop below 50° F
Apply two coats by brush or roller. Coverage will be
approximately 100 square foot per gallon. If spraying back
rolling is recommended. Use 3/8” roller cover for smooth
surfaces. For rougher textured surfaces use a 1/2” to 1 1/4
roller cover depending on surface texture. Be sure and back
brush or roll the wet material into the cracks of the wood to
ensure a uniform appearance.

Clean up application equipment, tools, spills, hands
immediately after use with water
