Aut hent icat ion t ype:
1. PEAP: Prot ect Ext ensible Aut hent icat ion Protocol. PEAP t ransport securely
aut hent icat ion dat a by using t unneling bet ween PEAP client s and an
aut hent icat ion server. PEAP can authent icate wireless LAN client s using only
server- side cert ificat es, t hus sim plifying the im plem entation and adm inistrat ion
of a secure wireless LAN.
2. TLSSm art Card: Transport Layer Securit y. Provides for cert ificat e- based and
m ut ual authent ication of t he client and t he net work. I t relies on client - side and
server- side cert ificat es t o perform authent icat ion and can be used t o
dynam ically generat e user- based and session- based WEP keys to secure
subsequent com m unicat ions bet ween t he WLAN client and the access point .
3. TTLS: Tunneled Transport Layer Securit y. This securit y m et hod provides for
cert ificate- based, m ut ual aut hent icat ion of the client and net work through an
encrypt ed channel. Unlike EAP- TLS, EAP- TTLS requires only server- side
cert ificates

4. LEAP: Light Ext ensible Aut hent icat ion Protocol. I t is an EAP aut hent ication t ype
used prim arily in Cisco Aironet WLANs. I t encrypt s data t ransm issions using
dynam ically generat ed WEP keys, and support s m ut ual authent ication.
