Safety precautions Using your ASUS Tablet This ASUS Tablet should only be used in environments with ambient temperatures between 5°C (41°F) and 35°C (95°F). Refer to the rating label on the bottom of your ASUS Tablet and ensure that your power adapter complies with this rating. Do not leave your ASUS Tablet on your lap or near any part of your body to prevent discomfort or injury from heat exposure. Do not use damaged power cords, accessories, and other peripherals with your ASUS Tablet.
Caring for your ASUS Tablet Disconnect the AC power and remove the battery pack (if applicable) before cleaning your ASUS Tablet. Use a clean cellulose sponge or chamois cloth dampened with a solution of nonabrasive detergent and a few drops of warm water. Remove any extra moisture from your ASUS Tablet using a dry cloth. Do not use strong solvents such as thinners, benzene, or other chemicals on or near your ASUS Tablet. Do not place objects on top of your ASUS Tablet.
Proper disposal Do not throw your ASUS Tablet/ASUS Mobile Dock in municipal waste. This product has been designed to enable proper reuse of parts and recycling. The symbol of the crossed out wheeled bin indicates that the product (electrical, electronic equipment and mercury-containing button cell battery) should not be placed in municipal waste. Check local regulations for disposal of electronic products. Do not throw the battery in municipal waste.

ASUS Tablet Your ASUS Tablet comes with an optional ASUS Mobile Dock to suit your mobile needs. The ASUS Tablet is also equipped with its own features for work and play which can be accessed using touch screen gestures. NOTE: For more details on using the ASUS Tablet, refer to the Tablet features and Gestures for the ASUS Tablet and touchpad sections in this manual. ASUS Mobile Dock The ASUS Mobile Dock provides additional input features to your touch screen panel via its touchpad and keyboard functions.
Left side The following hardware features located on your ASUS Tablet and ASUS Mobile Dock (optional) can be used while working on a docked or undocked ASUS Tablet. Power (DC) input port Insert the bundled power adapter into this port to charge the battery pack and supply power to your ASUS Tablet. WARNING! The adapter may become warm to hot while in use. Do not cover the adapter and keep it away from your body while it is connected to a power source.
Headphone output/microphone input combo jack port This port allows you to connect the touch screen panel to amplified speakers or headphones. You can also use this port to connect your touch screen panel to an external microphone. Micro HDMI port This port is for the micro HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) connector and is HDCP compliant for HD DVD, Blu-ray, and other protected content playback. Micro USB 2.0 port This micro USB (Universal Serial Bus) 2.0 port is compatible with USB 2.0 or USB 1.
Right side The following hardware features located on your ASUS Mobile Dock can be used while working on a docked ASUS Tablet. USB 2.0 port This USB (Universal Serial Bus) port is compatible with USB 2.0 or USB 1.1 devices such as keyboards, pointing devices, flash disk drives, external HDDs, speakers, cameras and printers.

Camera indicator The camera indicator lights up when the built-in camera is in use. Front camera The built-in front camera allows you to take pictures or record videos using your ASUS Tablet. Touch screen panel This high-definition touch screen panel provides excellent viewing features for photos, videos, and other multimedia files on your ASUS Tablet. It also allows you to operate your ASUS Tablet using touch gestures.
Power button Press the power button to turn on your ASUS Tablet, put it to sleep mode, and wake it up from sleep mode. In the event that your ASUS Tablet becomes unresponsive, press and hold the power button for about ten (10) seconds to force it to shut down. IMPORTANT! Forcing the system to restart may result to data loss. We strongly recommend that you back up your data regularly. Battery charge indicator This two-color LED provides a visual indication of the battery’s charge status.
Bottom side Micro SIM card slot (for models with LTE only) Your ASUS Tablet comes with a built-in micro SIM card slot that supports GSM, WCDMA, and LTE network bands. Hinge holes Align and insert the latch hooks into these holes to securely attach the ASUS Tablet to the ASUS Mobile Dock. Dock port Connect the ASUS Mobile Dock to this port to support keyboard, touchpad, and USB 3.0 port functions.
ASUS Mobile Dock features IMPORTANT! • The ASUS Mobile Dock is an optional accessory. • This ASUS Mobile Dock is compatible with T200 series ASUS Tablets. NOTE: The keyboard's layout may vary per region or country. Top view Latch hooks The latch hooks allow you to securely attach the ASUS Tablet on the ASUS Mobile Dock. Dock connector Securely attach the ASUS Tablet into the ASUS Mobile Dock by aligning the dock port on top of this connector.
Release button Press this button to safely detach the ASUS Tablet from the ASUS Mobile Dock. Hinge This hinge supports the ASUS Tablet while it is connected to the ASUS Mobile Dock. It also holds the ASUS Tablet in place while you adjust it into different viewing angles. Keyboard The keyboard provides QWERTY keys with a comfortable travel depth for typing. It also enables you to use the function keys, allows quick access to Windows®, and controls other multimedia functions.
Bottom Drive activity indicator This indicator lights up when your ASUS Tablet is accessing the internal storage drives. Hard disk drive compartment This compartment is a reserved space for the HDD (hard disk drive) of your ASUS Tablet. NOTE: For details on how to install your HDD, refer to Chapter 4: Upgrading your ASUS Tablet. Prior to installation, ask your retailer for assistance regarding compatible HDD options for your ASUS Tablet.
Docking the ASUS Tablet Align the ASUS Tablet on top of the PC dock tab as illustrated below. IMPORTANT! 26 • Ensure to fully insert the ASUS Tablet to the ASUS Mobile Dock. • Always pick up the entire assembly from the bottom when the ASUS Tablet is attached to the ASUS Mobile Dock.
Undocking the ASUS Tablet Press the release button on the ASUS Mobile Dock to securely detach the ASUS Tablet from the ASUS Mobile Dock, then gently pull out the ASUS Tablet.

Getting started Dock the ASUS Tablet on the ASUS Mobile Dock.
Charge your ASUS Tablet. A. Plug the AC power adapter into a 100V~240V power source. B. Connect the DC power connector into your ASUS Tablet’s power (DC) input. Charge the ASUS Tablet for 3 hours before using it in battery mode for the first time. NOTE: The power adapter may vary in appearance, depending on models and your region. IMPORTANT! Power adapter information: • Input voltage: 100-240Vac • Input frequency: 50-60Hz • Rating output current: 1.
IMPORTANT! • Locate the input/output rating label on your ASUS Tablet and ensure that it matches the input/output rating information on your power adapter. Some ASUS Tablet models may have multiple rating output currents based on the available SKU. • Ensure that your ASUS Tablet is connected to the power adapter before turning it on for the first time. We strongly recommend that you use a grounded wall socket while using your ASUS Tablet on power adapter mode.
Lift to open the display panel. Press the power button.
Gestures for the touch screen panel and touchpad Gestures allow you to launch programs and access the settings of your ASUS Tablet. Refer to the following illustrations when using hand gestures on your touch screen panel and touchpad. NOTE: The following screenshots are for reference only. The touch screen panel’s appearance may vary depending on model. Using touch screen panel gestures The gestures allow you to launch programs and access the settings of your ASUS Tablet.
Top edge swipe Finger slide • In the Start screen, swipe from the top edge of the screen to view the Customize bar. Slide your finger to scroll up and down and slide your finger to pan the screen left or right. • In a running app, swipe from the top edge of the screen to view its menu. Zoom out Zoom in Bring together your two fingers on the touch panel. Spread apart your two fingers on the touch panel.
Tap/Double tap Tap/click and hold • Tap an app to launch it. • • On Desktop mode, doubletap an item to launch it. To move an app, tap and hold the app tile and drag it to a new location. • To close an app, tap and hold the top side of the running app and drag it down to the bottom of the screen to close it.
Swipe up Swipe down Swipe up from the Start screen to launch the Apps screen. Swipe down from the Apps screen to return to the Start screen.
Using touchpad gestures Moving the pointer You can tap or click anywhere on the touchpad to activate its pointer, then slide your finger on the touchpad to move the pointer onscreen.
One-finger gestures Tap/click, Double tap/click • In the Start screen, tap/click an app to launch it. • In Desktop mode, double tap/click an application to launch it. Drag and drop Double-tap/click an item, then slide the same finger without lifting it off the touchpad. To drop the item to its new location, lift your finger from the touchpad.
Left-click Right-click • In the Start screen, click an app to launch it. • • In Desktop mode, doubleclick an application to launch it. In the Start screen, click an app to select it and launch the settings bar. You can also press this button to launch the All Apps bar. • In Desktop mode, use this button to open the rightclick menu. NOTE: The areas inside the dotted line represent the locations of the left mouse button and the right mouse button on the touchpad.
Top edge swipe • In the Start screen, swipe from the top edge to launch the All Apps bar. • In a running app, swipe from the top edge to view its menu. Left edge swipe Right edge swipe Swipe from the left edge to shuffle Swipe the right edge to launch your running apps. the Charms bar.

To rotate an image, place two fingers on the touchpad then turn one finger clockwise or counterclockwise while the other stays still. Three-finger gestures Swipe up Swipe left/right Swipe three fingers upward to show all running applications. Swipe three fingers left or right to show running apps in Desktop mode or Start screen. Swipe down Swipe three fingers downward to show the Desktop mode. IMPORTANT! By default, the three-finger gestures are not enabled. To enable these gestures, refer to section Enabling the three-finger gestures.
Enabling the three-finger gestures Activate the three-finger gestures of your touchpad using the following steps: 1. Launch the Desktop app. 2. On the lower-right corner of the taskbar, tap or > to launch ASUS Smart Gesture app. 3. 4. Tick the following items on the Three Fingers pane: - Navigate page - Show and navigate running apps’ view - Show desktop Tap Apply then tap OK.
Using the keyboard Function keys The function keys on your keyboard can trigger the following commands: Puts the ASUS Tablet into Sleep mode Turns Airplane mode on or off NOTE: When enabled, the Airplane mode disables all wireless connectivity. Decreases display brightness Increases display brightness Turns the display panel off and enters Connected Standby mode Toggles the display mode NOTE: Ensure that the second display is connected to your ASUS Tablet.
Enables or disables the touchpad Turns the speaker on or off Turns the speaker volume down Turns the speaker volume up Windows® 8.1 keys There are two special Windows® keys on your keyboard used as below: Press this key to go back to the Start screen. If you are already in the Start screen, press this key to go back to the last app you opened. Press this key to simulate the right-click functions.

Chapter 3: Working with Windows® 8.
Starting for the first time When you start your computer for the first time, a series of screens appear to guide you in configuring your Windows® 8.1 operating system. To start your ASUS Tablet for the first time: 1. Press the power button on your ASUS Tablet. Wait for a few minutes until the setup screen appears. 2. From the setup screen, pick your region and a language to use on your ASUS Tablet. 3. Carefully read the License Terms. Select I accept. 4.
Windows® UI Windows® 8.1 comes with a tile-based user interface (UI) which allows you to organize and easily access Windows® apps from the Start screen. It also includes the following features that you can use while working on your ASUS Tablet. Start screen The Start screen appears after successfully signing in to your user account. It helps organize all the applications you need in just one place. Windows® Apps These are apps pinned on the Start screen and displayed on tiled-format for easy access.
Hotspots Onscreen hotspots allow you to launch programs and access the settings of your ASUS Tablet. The functions in these hotspots can be activated using the touchpad.
Hotspot Action upper left corner Hover your mouse pointer on the upper left corner then tap/click on the recent app’s thumbnail to revert back to that running app. If you launched more than one app, slide down to show all running apps. lower left corner From a running app screen: Hover your mouse pointer on the lower left corner then tap/click to go back to the Start screen. NOTE: You can also press the Windows key on your keyboard to go back to the Start screen.
Hotspot Action top side Hover your mouse pointer on the top side until it changes to a hand icon. Drag then drop the app to a new location. NOTE: This hotspot function only works on a running app or when you want to use the Snap feature. For more details, refer to the Snap feature under Working with Windows® apps. upper or lower right corner 54 Hover your mouse pointer on the upper or lower right corner to launch the Charms bar.
Start button Windows® 8.1 features the Start button which allows you to switch between the two most recent apps that you opened. The Start button may be accessed from the Start screen, while on Desktop mode, and on any app that is currently open onscreen. Start button on the Start screen NOTE: The actual color of your Start button varies depending on the display settings you chose for your Start screen.
Start button on Desktop mode Context menu The context menu appears as a box filled with quick access to some of the programs inside Windows® 8.1 when you right-click on the Start button. The context menu also includes the following shut down options for your ASUS Tablet: sign out, sleep, shut down, restart.
Customizing your Start screen Windows® 8.1 also enables you to customize your Start screen, allowing you to boot directly to the Desktop mode and customize the arrangement of your apps onscreen. To customize the settings of your Start screen: or 1. Launch the Desktop. 2. Right-click anywhere on the taskbar, except on the Start button, to launch the pop-up window. 3. Click Properties then select the Navigation tab to tick the Navigation and Start screen options you want to use. 4.
Working with Windows® apps Use your ASUS Tablet’s touch screen panel, touchpad, or keyboard to launch, customize, and close apps. Launching apps Tap an app to launch it. Position your mouse pointer over the app then left-click or tap once to launch it. Press twice then use the arrow keys to browse through the apps. Press to launch an app.
Resizing apps Tap and hold the app to activate the Customize bar then tap and select an app tile size. Right-click on the app to activate the Customize bar, then tap/click and select an app tile size. Unpinning apps Tap and hold the app to activate the Customize bar, then tap to unpin an app. Right-click on the app to activate the Customize bar then tap/click .
Closing apps Tap and hold the top side of the running app then drag it down to the bottom of the screen to close it. 1. Move your mouse pointer on the top side of the launched app then wait for the pointer to change to a hand icon. 2. Drag then drop the app to the bottom of the screen to close it. From the running app’s screen, press 60 .
Accessing the Apps screen Aside from the apps already pinned on your Start screen, you can also open other applications through the Apps screen. NOTE: Actual apps shown onscreen may vary per model. Pinning more apps on the Start screen You can pin more apps on the Start screen using your touch screen panel or touchpad. 1. Launch the All Apps screen. 2. Tap and hold an app you want to add on the start to activate the Customize bar. Once the Customize bar is launched, you may also tap other more apps to add on the Start screen. 3. Charms bar The Charms bar is a toolbar that can be triggered on the right side of your screen. It consists of several tools that allow you to share applications and provide quick access for customizing the settings of your ASUS Tablet.
Launching the Charms bar NOTE: When called out, the Charms bar initially appears as a set of white icons. The image above shows how the Charms bar looks like once activated. Use your ASUS Tablet’s touch screen panel, touchpad, or keyboard to launch the Charms bar. Swipe from the right edge of the screen to launch the charms bar. Move your mouse pointer on the upper or lower right corner of the screen.
Inside the Charms bar Search This charm allows you to look for files, applications, or programs in your ASUS Tablet. Share This charm allows you to share applications via social networking sites or email. Start This charm reverts the display back to the Start screen. From the Start screen, you can also use this to revert back to a recently opened app. Devices This charm allows you to access and share files with the devices attached to your ASUS Tablet such as an external display or printer.
Snap feature The Snap feature displays two apps side-by-side, allowing you to work or switch between apps. IMPORTANT! Ensure that your ASUS Tablet’s screen resolution is set to 1366 x 768 pixels or higher before using the Snap feature.
Using Snap Use your ASUS Tablet’s touch screen panel, touchpad, or keyboard to activate and use Snap. 1. Launch the app you wish to snap. 2. Tap and hold the app’s topmost part then drag it to the left or right side of the screen until the snap bar appears. 3. Launch another app. 1. Launch the app you wish to snap. 2. Hover the mouse point on the top side of your screen. 3. Once the pointer changes to a hand icon, drag then drop the app to the left or right side of the display panel. 4.

Connecting to wireless networks Wi-Fi Access emails, surf the Internet, and share applications via social networking sites using your ASUS Tablet’s Wi-Fi connection. IMPORTANT! The Airplane mode disables this feature. Ensure that Airplane mode is turned off before enabling the Wi-Fi connection of your ASUS Tablet. Enabling Wi-Fi Activate Wi-Fi in your ASUS Tablet using the following steps on your touch screen panel or touchpad. 1. Launch the Charms bar. 2. Tap/click 3.
Bluetooth Use Bluetooth to facilitate wireless data transfers with other Bluetoothenabled devices. IMPORTANT! The Airplane mode disables this feature. Ensure that Airplane mode is turned off before enabling the Bluetooth connection of your ASUS Tablet. Pairing with other Bluetooth-enabled devices You need to pair your ASUS Tablet with other Bluetooth-enabled devices to enable data transfers. To do this, use your touchpad as follows: 1. Launch the Charms bar. 2. Tap/click 3.
Airplane mode The Airplane mode disables wireless communication, allowing you to use your ASUS Tablet safely while in-flight. Turning Airplane mode on or 1. Launch the Charms bar. 2. Tap/click 3. Connecting to wired networks You can also connect to wired networks, such as local area networks and broadband Internet connection, using your ASUS Tablet’s LAN port. NOTE: Contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for details or your network administrator for assistance in setting up your Internet connection. To configure your settings, refer to the following procedures.
Tap/click Obtain an IP address automatically then tap/click OK. 6. NOTE: Proceed to the next steps if you are using PPPoE connection. 7. Return to the Network and Sharing Center window then tap/click Set up a new connection or network. 8. Select Connect to the Internet then tap/click Next. 9. Tap/click Broadband (PPPoE). 10. Turning your ASUS Tablet off You can turn off your ASUS Tablet by doing either of the following procedures: • or Tap/click from the Charms bar then tap/click > Shut down to do a normal shutdown. • From the log-in screen, tap/click > Shut down. • You can also shut down your ASUS Tablet using Desktop mode. To do this, launch the desktop then press alt + f4 to launch the Shut Down window. Select Shut Down from the drop-down list then select OK.
Windows® 8.1 lock screen The Windows® 8.1 lock screen appears when you wake your ASUS Tablet from sleep or hibernate mode. It also appears when you lock or unlock Windows® 8.1. The lock screen can be customized to regulate access to your operating system. You can change its background display and access some of your apps while your ASUS Tablet is still locked. To proceed from the lock screen or 76 1. Tap/click on the touchpad or press any key on your ASUS Tablet's keyboard. 2.
Customizing your lock screen You can customize your lock screen to show your preferred photo, a photo slideshow, app updates, and quickly access your ASUS Tablet’s camera. To change the settings of your lock screen, you may refer to the following information: Selecting a photo 1. Launch the Charms bar > Settings. 2. Select Change PC Settings > Lock screen. 3. Under the Lock screen preview, click Browse to select the photo you would like to use as a background on your lock screen.
Adding app updates 1. Launch the Charms bar > Settings. 2. Select Change PC Settings > Lock screen. 3. Scroll down until you see the Lock screen apps option. 4. Use the following options to add the apps whose updates you would like to see from your lock screen: Activating your ASUS Tablet camera from the lock screen From the lock screen, you can swipe down to activate and use your ASUS Tablet's camera. Refer to the following steps on how to enable this feature: 78 1.
Troubleshoot By pressing during POST, you can access Windows® 8.1 troubleshoot options which includes the following: • Refresh your PC • Reset your PC • Advanced options Refresh your PC Use Refresh your PC if you want to refresh your system without losing your current files and applications. To access this during POST: 1. Restart your ASUS Tablet then press 2. POST. Wait for Windows® to load the Choose an option screen then tap/click Troubleshoot. during 3. Tap/click Refresh your PC. 4.
Reset your PC IMPORTANT! Back up all your data before performing this option. Use Reset your PC to restore your ASUS Tablet to its default settings. To access this during POST: 1. In the Reset your PC screen, read the bullet points to learn more about using this option then tap/click Next. 5.
Advanced options Use Advanced options to perform additional troubleshooting options in your ASUS Tablet. To access this during POST: 1. Restart your ASUS Tablet then press during 2. POST. Installing the Hard Disk Drive Refer to the following steps if you need to install the HDD (hard disk drive) of your ASUS Tablet. IMPORTANT! Purchase an HDD from authorized retailers of this ASUS Tablet to ensure maximum compatibility and reliability. It is recommended that you replace the HDD under professional supervision. You may also visit an authorized service center for further assistance.
A. Loosen the screw of the ASUS Mobile Dock’s compartment cover. B. Pull out the compartment cover and remove it completely from your ASUS Mobile Dock.
C. Remove the screws securing the HDD bay to the compartment. D. Remove the HDD bay from the compartment using the flap.
E. Place the HDD in the HDD bay. F. Secure the HDD inside the HDD bay using the screws bundled with the HDD bay.
G. Replace the HDD bay back in the compartment, with the HDD connector aligned with the ASUS Mobile Dock’s HDD port. Push the HDD bay until it connects with the ASUS Mobile Dock. H. Secure the HDD bay with the screws you removed earlier.
I. Align then push down the compartment cover back into place. J. Reattach and tighten the screw that you removed earlier.
