Control Panel Startup
When the system is powered up, the LCD on the control panel will display the Function menu screen
(FIG. 21).
APWeb Startup
If you have not already done so, use the TCP/IP port on the primary enclosure to connect to a LAN or to
a PC (see page 36).
Serial Control Device Startup
If you have not already done so, use the DB-9 Port on the primary enclosure to attach the serial control
device to the enclosure (see page 24) and open your control program.
AMX Control Devices
The Octaire is compatible with a number of AMX control devices. For control programming
information, see the instruction manual for the specific interface. The Octaire also supports Device
Discovery.
Important: Device Discovery functionality (beacon response) will only function properly if the
NetLinx master is connected to the RS-232 control port on the primary enclosure (the one with the
control panel).
APControl 3.0
If you are using APControl 3.0, install and open the program. Follow the directions in Step 4 on page 26.
From the Launchbar menu, select Views / CrossBar and click on the crosspoints to execute switches.
HyperTerminal
When power is applied to the enclosure, HyperTerminal displays a one-line splash screen followed by
Ready” (FIG. 22). The system is ready to execute a test switch (see page 30). If you need to access
advanced system information, see Appendix B, “Programmers Interface for System Diagnostics” on
page 97.
Note: AMX reserves the right to add to the contents of the splash screen at any time, without notice.
