Balancer Usage Chart (1992 to Present)
Note:
T = Balancer with tab.;
S = Balancer with shoe.;
S & T = You need two balancer: one with shoe and one with tab.
These charts are used to identify balancers for both DC (Designed for Cleaning) and TW (Tilt-Wash) double hung units.
The following charts show the balancers that you need for the upper and the lower sash. A complete unit will use either 4, 6 or 8
balancers.
• If one number is listed this balancer is used on the upper sash as well as the lower sash.
• If two balancer sizes are listed, you need both of those balancers for the upper and both for the lower sash.
• Each sash will use either two (one on each side) or four (two on each side) balancers on each sash, see page 122
.
• If an S & T follows a number, you need two balancers for the upper sash, one with a shoe and one with a tab and two for the
lower sash, one with a shoe and one with a tab.
• See Stormwatch Section to identify balancer chart for glass types not listed in Chart 1 through 4.
• Balancer may be etched with 3 or 4 digit number.
Beginning in April of 2012, glass may be etched with 2.2 or 3.0 etchings. If you have a sash made prior to April of 2012
use glass type to identify balancer needed. If you have a sash made after April 2012 use glass type as well as any 2.2 or
3.0 etching around logo. Glass with 2.2 etchings will use Chart 1 or 3, glass with 3.0 etchings will use Chart 2 or 4. Glass
type HP, HP Sun, HP SmartSun™ and HP PassiveSun™ manufactured prior to April 2012 will not have 2.2 etching, but
will use Chart 1 or 3.
