Instructions are for typical, new wood-framed wall construction with weather protection in place.

Instructions may not be right for all installations due to building design, construction materials or methods used and/or building or site

conditions. Consult a contractor or architect for recommendations.

Flanges on the unit alone will not properly ash and seal the window. Follow these instructions carefully.

Unless specically ordered, Andersen windows

and doors are not equipped with safety glass,

and if broken, could fragment causing injury.

Many laws and building codes require safety

glass in locations adjacent to or near doors.

Andersen windows are available with safety

glass that may reduce the likelihood of injury

when broken. Information on safety glass is

available from your local Andersen dealer.

• Andersen

Head Flashing and Installation Flanges DO NOT take the place of standard window

and door ashing. Unit must be properly ashed and sealed with silicone for protection

against water and air inltration. Use non-reective ashings. Highly reective ashing tapes

can raise the surface temperature of the vinyl to the point where vinyl deformation and product

damage may occur.

• Do not apply any type of lm to glass. Thermal stress conditions resulting in glass damage

could occur.

• Use of movable insulating materials such as window coverings, shutters, and other shading

devices may damage glass and/or vinyl. In addition, excessive condensation may result

causing deterioration of windows and doors.

Frame Assembly and Installation Guide Masonry/Concrete Installations Only • Acid solutions used to wash masonry/concrete will damage glass, fasteners, hardware, and metal flashing. Follow the acid solution manufacturer's instructions carefully. Protect and/or cover Andersen® products during cleaning process to prevent acid contact. If acid does come in contact with unit, immediately wash all surfaces with clean water. • DO NOT install unit directly on masonry/concrete surface.

Obtain and use the appropriate metal fasteners and hardware as called out by the installation guide to fasten unit to any rough opening made from preservative-treated and fire-retardant treated lumber. Failure to use the appropriate materials for the installation may cause a failure resulting in injury, property or product damage.

Silicone Sealant Silicone Sealant must be applied to ends of Sill and Side Jambs to help prevent water infiltration. Screw Guide • Apply a 1/8" bead of Silicone Sealant (provided in frame package) to bottom ends of Side Jambs. (Top ends have a beveled cut.

Attach Head Jamb To Side Jambs • Position Head Jamb exterior side up Side Jamb Silicone Sealant Head Jamb Silicone Sealant must be applied to end of Side Jamb to help prevent water infiltration. Exterior Edge of Head Jamb • Apply a 1/8" bead of Silicone Sealant (provided) to top end of Side Jambs and position against Head Jamb. 3 4 When attaching Side Jambs to Head Jamb, screw fastening sequence must be followed.

Use caution when handling Head Flashing. Failure to do so may result in personal injury. Groove Flush at Ends Handle aluminum Head Flashing with care to avoid bending. Frame Assembly and Installation Guide 6. Apply Optional Aluminum Sill Support if Required Sill support must be used whenever support is needed under projecting outer edge of Sill. Support entire length of Sill to prevent product damage. Optional Aluminum Sill Support Optional Aluminum Exterior Sill Extension and Sill Support must be applied before frame is installed. Sill • Slide Aluminum Sill Support onto the aluminum Sill from one end.

Seal Frame, Sill and Rough Opening Side Installation Flange Exterior Edge of Sill Sealant must be applied to Sill and in void between Side Installation Flange and Sill to help prevent water infiltration. 3" Sealant (in Void) • Apply a 1/2" bead of Sealant, 3" from exterior edge, full length across bottom of Sill and in void between Side Installation Flange and Sill.

Frame Assembly and Installation Guide 10. Shim and Plumb Jambs Shim Allow 1/4" space around perimeter of unit between exterior finish and door frame for Sealant. Failure to do so may result in product and/or property damage. Clamp Side Jamb • Shims at Head Jamb are temporary. DO NOT place shims on top of predrilled holes at Head Jamb. PLUM - LEVEL - SH • Insert shims between Side Jambs and framing at each fastener location. Shims will be held in place by fastener screws.

Frame Assembly and Installation Guide 12. Apply Flashing Tape Drip Cap (Full Width) Head Flashing Tape Unit must be properly flashed and sealed for protection against water and air infiltration. Use non-reflective flashings. Highly reflective flashing tapes can raise the surface temperature of the vinyl to the point where vinyl deformation and product damage may occur. • This instruction step depicts one of many options for proper flashing.

Insulate and Seal Unit • When insulating between the unit’s frame and rough opening, or between units when joining, DO NOT overpack batt insulation or overfill with foam. Bowed jambs will result, affecting product performance and/or proper unit operation. Batt Insulation • Andersen® Head Flashing and Installation Flanges DO NOT take the place of standard window and door flashing. Unit must be properly flashed for protection against water and air infiltration.

Attach Insect Screen Latch Insect Screen Latch If insect screens are NOT being used, insert screw provided for insect screen latch into predrilled hole. • Fasten Insect Screen Latch to frame, through predrilled hole, using screw provided. Obtenga y utilice los sujetadores e instrumentos metálicos apropiados, como se indica en la guía de instalación, para sujetar la unidad a cualquier abertura no acabada de madera tratada con retardador de fuego y con preservante.

Selle el marco, el riel y la abertura no acabada Brida de instalación lateral Borde exterior del riel Se debe aplicar sellador en el riel y en los espacios entre la brida de instalación lateral y el riel para evitar la filtración de agua. 3" Sellador (en el espacio) • Aplique un cordón de 1/2" de sellador, a 3" del borde exterior, en toda la longitud de la parte inferior del riel y en los espacios entre la brida de instalación lateral y el riel.

Jambas de cuña y plomada Cuña Deje un espacio de 1/4" alrededor del perímetro de la unidad, entre el acabado exterior y el marco de la puerta, para aplicar sellador. De no hacerlo así, podrían producirse daños al producto y/o a la propiedad. Abrazadera Jamba lateral Vista interior • Verifique el nivel de las jambas de cabecera y laterales y realice ajustes con cuñas si es necesario. Las jambas se deben aplomar, nivelar y cuadrar.

Aplique la cinta de flashing Tapa de goteo (ancho total) Cinta flashing para cabecera La unidad debe estar instalada con flashing y sellada de manera adecuada para protegerla contra la filtración de agua y aire. Use flashing no reflectante. Las cintas flashing altamente reflectante pueden aumentar la temperatura de la superficie de vinilo hasta el punto en que se puede producir deformación del vinilo y dañar el producto.

Coloque el aislamiento y selle la unidad. • Al colocar aislante entre el marco y la abertura no acabada o entre las unidades al unirlas, NO comprima demasiado el aislamiento de fibra de vidrio ni rellene con espuma. Si las jambas se pandean, el rendimiento del producto y/o el funcionamiento correcto de la unidad se verá afectado.

Inserte el pestillo del mosquitero Pestillo del mosquitero En caso de que NO se utilicen mosquiteros, introduzca el tornillo proporcionado para el pestillo del mosquitero en el orificio pretaladrado. Destornillador Phillips • Ajuste el pestillo del mosquitero al marco a través del orificio pretaladrado con el tornillo que se le proporcionó. Vista exterior • Sostenga el pestillo en posición horizontal y ajuste para que el pestillo gire libremente. 16.
