Safety Instructions Read all the safety warnings and instructions before using the appliance. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/ or serious injury. Save all warnings and instructions for future reference. The term “power tool” refers to the mains operated appliance. Work area safety Keep the work area clean and well lit at all times, cluttered or dark areas present a safety hazard.
Personal safety Do not use the appliance when under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. Stay alert at all times when using the appliance. Always wear personal protective equipment when using the appliance. This includes eye protection, dust mask, non-skid safety shoes and hearing protection. Ensure the switch is in the off position before connecting it to the power source. When carrying the power tool always ensure that it is in the off position and unplugged from the power source.
When the appliance is unattended, maintenance is being carried out, cleaning, blade oiling or when the blades are blocked, always switch the appliance off at the mains. Always make sure the hand guard is mounted on the machine when using the hedge trimmer. Never remove any of its components and never use a damaged or incomplete machine. Never modify any parts or the machine, components or tamper with the original trimmer arrangement in anyway.
Before using the appliance make yourself familiar with the working area and be alert to any potential hazards. Never touch the unprotected blades and never carry the appliance by the blades. Check the hedge for foreign objects before using the appliance. Attach the hand guard before beginning operation. Starting the appliance Switching on: Press the on/off switch (3) located on the front handle and the switch (1) on the rear handle at the same time. Switching off: Release either of the on/switches (3) or (1). Please note: The blade brake makes the blade stop immediately, a small flash may occur in the upper ventilation slots. This is normal and will not harm the machine. Using the appliance When trimming a hedge, first cut the sides from the bottom to the top.
Maintenance, cleaning and storage Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tools or these instructions to operate the power tool. Check for misalignment, binding or moving parts, broken parts and any other conditions that may affect the performance of the power tools. If damaged have the power tools repaired before use. Only use original spare parts and accessories recommended by the manufacturer.
Symbols Before use, refer to the corresponding paragraph in the present manual. This symbol before a safety comment, indicates a precaution, a warning or a danger. Ignoring this warning can lead to an accident for yourself or for others. To limit the risk of injury, fire, or electrocution always apply the recommendations indicated. Electrical information Please note: It is extremely important that the wires or cores in the flex are connected to the correct terminals in the plug. If the colour of the mains lead of the appliance does not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug proceed as follows: The Live (Brown) wire connects to the right- most live (L) terminal nearest to the fuse. The Neutral (Blue) wire connects to the left-most neutral (N) terminal.
