Connect the AUT Cards
ThefollowingrulesapplytotheAUTCardports1-8.
• TheoutsidenetworkthatsupportstheEthernetdeviceconnectedtotheUAPmustbeconnectedtothe
correspondingAUTCardandportofthesubrackcontainingtheCATcardtowhichtheUAPisconnected.
Ethernetbackhaulovertheopticallinkisnotsupported.
• BecausethepathfromtheUAPAUXporttoanAUTportpathisapass-throughconnection,noextra
networksetupproceduresfortheEthernetdevicearerequired.
• BecausetheUAP'sAUXportisconfiguredtosupportasecondUAPbydefault,therewillbeadelaybefore
theEthernetbackhaulpathattheAUTCardisreadytousewhenthedeviceisinitiallyconnected.When
anEthernetdeviceisconnectedtotheAUXportofaUAP,ION-Edetectsthedevice,re-flashestheUAPto
supportthedevice,andthenrebootstheUAP.TheUAPwillperformthere-flashandrebootprocess
whenevertheUAPorEthernetdeviceconnectedtotheAUXportischanged.TheUAP'sblueLEDwillblink
whilere-flashingwithoutinterruptingservice,buttheUAPwillexperienceashortserviceinterruptionof
approximately1.5minuteswhenitreboots.
• TheAUTpathisindependentofthesignalsetassignedtoaUAP,however,themaximumtransport
bandwidthfortheUAPisreducedfrom320MHzto280MHzwhenanEthernetdeviceisconnectedtothe
UAP.
• TheAUXportofacascaded(secondary)UAPcannotbeusedtoconnectanEthernetdevice.
• TheAUTCardportsdonotsupplypower,however,theUAPdoessupplyRemotePoweroverCat6Ato
connectedEthernetdevices.
• 1Gbit/sand100Mbit/sEthernetdevicesaresupported.
