2. Introduction Dear ANSCHÜTZ friend, It’s important to be able to rely on the quality of a firearm: for example, exact and ever-consistent shooting performance. With an ANSCHÜTZ barrel and the detailed, well-engineered design of our bolt, you are warranted gunsmithing of the finest caliber. ANSCHÜTZ brings in the manufacture of precision firearms well-founded experience of more than 160 years. But of course, tradition isn’t everything.
3. 4. General Handling of Firearms I Serious or life-threatening injuries and damages can be caused by the use of improper ammunitions, through contaminations in the barrel, or through improper cartridge components. Firearms are dangerous objects requiring the utmost care in their storage and use. The following safety and warning instructions must be observed without exception! I Firearms modified in a way that could affect safety must not be used.

4.3 Maintenance I Before and after use, or for maintenance and cleaning work, ensure that the firearm is not loaded. 4.4 Transport I Firearms may only be transported in an unloaded condition and in locked containers. I When you are putting your firearm in a case or a soft case, always make sure that the firearm and the inside of the case or soft case are dry and that no water or moisture remains. I Only transport firearms in dry and clean condition. 4.
5. Legal NOTE! CAUTION! The applicable firearms legislation, regulations and provisions for the respective territory, and also the safety rules of the hunting and sporting organisations must be observed. 6. Modifications to or tampering with the firearm or its parts are forbidden and may possibly infringe the warranty conditions. Alterations of this kind can have an adverse affect on the safe use of the product and lead to accidents that endanger life and limb.
8. Firearm Operations X To install the bolt into the receiver, slide the cocked bolt into the rear of the receiver until it comes to a stop (direction of arrow). X Close the bolt handle down to the right. 8.1 Bolt NOTE! The rifle and the bolt are packed separately for reasons of safety and must still be assembled. CAUTION! 8.4 Trigger Property damage! 8.4.1 Single-Stage Trigger After the unlocking, the magazine can drop free from the rifle. During the unlocking, keep one hand under the magazine. WARNING! 8.4.2 Trigger Weight Danger to life! Setting of the trigger weight using an adjusting screw trigger weight [a]: y turn right (clockwise) = Trigger weight increases (+) y turn left (anticlockwise) = Trigger weight decreases (–) X Unintentional shooting because of too little sear engagement. X Do not set the trigger weight too low. X Do not set the sear engagement too short. ✔ The trigger is optimally set. 8.4.
8.5 Change Caliber 8.5.2 Install Barrel CAUTION! NOTE! Only by the authorised gunsmith! To assemble the barrel, the two half shells must be used. See the following figure “Position of the half shells.” X In case of failure to heed, the warranty and all claims for damages lapses.
8.5.3 Change Magazine X If there is a caliber change, the magazine corresponding to the caliber specified on the barrel must be used. See also Chapter 8.3 Magazine. X Fix the cartridge holder adjusting screw [Q] with high-strength screw lock (adhesive such as Loctite). ✔ The cartridge holder is adjusted to the new caliber and the rifle is completely converted to the new caliber. 8.5.4 Changing of the Cartridge Holder X X Remove the existing cartridge holder [P] using a small screwdriver. 8.
9. HINWEIS! Maintenance/Cleaning After each use of the rifle, wipe the steel parts with a thin film of oil and clean the barrel thoroughly. 9.1 General WARNING! In transport from cold to warm spaces, condensation water can form on metal parts and in the interior of the barrel. Wipe these parts down with a light oil to remove moisture. Danger to life! Danger to life due to loaded firearm. X Before conducting any maintenance or inspection on the rifle, ensure the rifle and magazines are completely unloaded.
9.2 Cleaning of the Barrel If the barrel is only slightly dirty, use a plastic brush to clean it. After Shooting y Allow rifle to warm to room temperature with opened bolt (and opened snow cap - if available especially on biathlon rifles). X y Carefully remove condensation water on the exterior parts. y Dismantle rifle and likewise free individual parts of condensation water if water is present. y Clean barrel with plastic brush and cleaning solvent then dry with cotton patch.
I In maintaining the rifle, no dust, residue of sol- Caption vents, greases, as well as unsuitable oils may get into the trigger device. ANSCHÜTZ recommends, that for optimal performance the compression spring (c) should be exchanged every 5 years or after discharge of 50,000 shots by an authorized gunsmith. Clean all parts of the disassembled bolt of dust and powder residue with a thin, nonhardening oil. Then, cover the components of the bolt with a light film of oil. 9.5.
10. Trouble Shooting 13. Shooting Performance CAUTION! The shooting precision of a firearm depends on several factors. One very important factor in this respect is the ammunition. Not every barrel shoots with the same efficiency. Considerable performance differences are apparent with each ammunition type. In the event of malfunctions (e.g. rounds not discharged, etc.) the rifle must be unloaded, secured and taken without delay to a specialist dealer or gunsmith or sent to ANSCHÜTZ.
