WARNING THE PURPOSE OF RELIEF VALVE IS TO AVOID EXCESSIVE PRESSURE OR TEMPERATURE INTO THE STEAM RANGE, WHICH MAY CAUSE SCALDING AT FIXTURES, TANK EXPLOSION, SYSTEM OR HEATER DAMAGE.
IT IS IMPORTANT TO GUARD AGAINST GAS VALVE FOULING FROM CONTAMINANTS IN THE GAS WAYS. SUCH FOULING MAY CAUSE IMPROPER OPERATION, FIRE OR EXPLOSION. It is further recommended, in all cases, that the water temperature dial be set for the lowest temperature which satisfies your hot water needs. This will also provide the most energy efficient operation of the water heater. The water temperature adjusting dial was factory set at the lowest temperature; all the way clockwise to the mechanical stop.
WARNING FAILURE TO CORRECT BACK DRAFTS MAY CAUSE AIR CONTAMINATION AND UNSAFE CONDITIONS. • ignite rapidly; give reasonably quiet operation; cause no excessive flame lifting from the burner ports. Make sure that the flow of combustion and ventilation air is not blocked. If the back draft cannot be corrected by the normal method or if a suitable draft cannot be obtained, a blower type flue gas exhauster must be employed to assure proper venting and correct combustion.
