DESCRIPTION: APOC

208 Silver Guard
®
-F Fibered Aluminum Roof Coating is a 2
pound, professional grade reective coating formulated to provide a bright and
long lasting nish. The aluminum pigment in this product enables it to form a
silver shield to reect the sun’s destructive rays. Cooling costs can be reduced
while the underlying roong materials are protected and preserved. APOC 208
Silver Guard-F serves as surface protector for a variety of substrates, as well as a
rust inhibitor and will aid in the prevention of corrosion for metal surfaces. APOC
208 Silver Guard-F also contains interlocking bers which increase the life and
durability of the coating.
PREPARATION: Download the APOC App for detailed installation instructions,
videos, tips specications, product handling and Safety Data Sheets. Completely
read all application instructions and check weather conditions prior to starting
any work. All surfaces must be completely clean, dry, have proper drainage and
be free of surface rust, dust and any other foreign matter or debris. Rusty metal
must be cleaned with a wire brush and primed with APOC 291 or rust converting
primer before application of this product. Surfaces with mildew growth or stains
must be cleaned with a bleach solution (2 parts water to one part bleach) prior
to applying this product. Rinse thoroughly. Pressure washing entire surface is
recommended (use only a wide fan tip - do not allow stream to tear into roof
surface). Repair all leaks and cracks BEFORE applying any coating. Make repairs
with polyester reinforcing fabric and APOC roof sealant (264, AP-1, 501) or
use APOC Incredible
®
Fleece-Top
®
Tape as an alternate repair. Allow repair to
cure according to product directions before application of roof coating. Surfaces
previously coated with aluminum, asphalt or tar should be allowed to cure for a
minimum of one summer season prior to coating. Do not heat or thin. DO NOT
APPLY WHEN RAIN OR HEAVY DEW IS EXPECTED WITHIN 24 HOURS OF
APPLICATION COMPLETION.
FOR BEST RESULTS: STIR CONTENTS BEFORE AND DURING USE AS REQUIRED.
Aluminum pigment settles out and thorough stirring is necessary to re-disperse
this component prior to use. A power drill mixer can be very helpful to mix product.
In colder weather, product should be stored at ambient temperatures (65 °F to
80 °F) at least 24 hours prior to application. This will allow for easier application
of product.
FALL PROTECTION WARNING: Always use personal fall protection devices and follow
procedures in accordance with OSHA and local regulatory requirements when
walking or working on roofs. Use safety equipment such as tie-offs, safety lines,
body harnesses, toe boards and ladders. Dusty, damp or wet conditions, as well
as certain shoes can result in slippery surfaces and create a fall hazard. Always
be cognizant of where you are in relation to your surroundings including but not
limited to: the edge of the roof, any projections, skylights and any other objects
which could cause you to slip or fall. Falling from a roof can result in serious harm
or death.
APPLICATION: For exterior use only. Protective clothing, gloves and eyewear should
be used during application of this product. Always apply on a clear, warm sunny
day. Apply in morning hours to allow maximum cure time. Temperatures must
be above 50 °F (for 24 hours) and rising, but not above 110 °F. Mix coating and
apply evenly using professional airless sprayer, brush or roller. Spread in both
horizontal and vertical directions, overlapping ends of strokes. Avoid excessive
build-up or puddling. When brushing, avoid scraping into existing roof surface.
All nish strokes should be made in the same direction. When buying multiple
containers, it is recommended to match the batch codes on the lids to avoid shade
variances. Finish all application a minimum of 4 hours prior to sunset in standard
drying conditions to allow coating to properly cure. Allow longer cure periods in
temperatures below 60 °F. Avoid foot trafc once applied. The manufacturer also
disclaims liability for at surface application where poor drainage or ponding of
water may prevail.
SPRAY INFO: 1500 - 2000 PSI, .055 - .061 Tip Size, 1.5 - 2.0 GPM
COVERAGE RATES: (May vary depending on texture of surface) Built-up (Smooth
Surface): 0.75 - 1.0 gal. per 100 sq. ft. Metal Roong: 0.75 - 1.0 gal. per 100 sq.
ft. Granular Surface: 1.0 - 1.5 gal. per 100 sq. ft.
NOTE: Do not allow coating to puddle. Over application may cause dulling / graying
of aluminum nish. Presence of moisture or dew prior to complete cure will cause
dulling / browning of aluminum surface. This product is not recommended for use
on shingles, tile, EPDM, TPO, or other single ply membranes. Standing water dulls
aluminum, and may cause adhesion failure between the coating and substrate. In
warmer weather, application to steep slopes may result
