IMPORTANT
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
CONBRACO Industries nor its agents assume any liability for valves improperly installed or maintained.
I-5305-00
1. Inspect pipe connections and remove any dirt, debris, or burrs which
may adversely affect valve operation.
2. Lines should be blown clean before installation.
3. Use thread sealant sparingly on male pipe threads only.
4. Use a pipe wrench on the pipe, near the valve, and a wrench, with flat
jaws which properly fit the valve flats. A pipe wrench is for pipe, never
for valves. Fit valve wrench over valve hex flats at the end where a
connection is being made. The pipe wrench should be applied to the
pipe at the connection being made. Never apply an installation torque
through the valve. Bodies of bronze valves may be twisted out of shape
by using the wrench on the hex opposite the joint being tightened or by
using a wrench which is too large. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN. With a
proper application of thread sealant, a pipe joint seal can be achieved
without using an excessive amount of turning effort.
5. Valves should never be installed so that they are required to carry
the weight of the piping. Provide proper support for the valve at each
connection. DO NOT SUPPORT DIRECTLY UNDER STEM.
6. Once installation is complete, pressurize entire system with air to
check for leaks. With a soap solution, thoroughly wet entire valve and
any connecting joints. A leak is present if bubbles are observed.
7. If a leak is detected from valve, inspect to make sure valve is
properly supported. Do not attempt to adjust or repair valve. Replace
valve and send problem valve back to your local representative.
