Itemnames:Say“Shownames”or“Shownamescontinuously,”thensay“Tapitemname.”
Numbers:Say“Shownumbers”or“Shownumberscontinuously,”thensaythenumbernexttothe
itemyouwant.Youcanalsogiveacommandtoperformagesture,suchas“Tapnumber,”“Long
pressnumber,”“Swipeupatnumber,”or“Doubletapnumber.”
Grid:Tointeractwithascreenlocationnotrepresentedbyanitemnameornumber,say“Show
grid”or“Showgridcontinuously,”thendoanyofthefollowing:
Drilldown:Sayanumbertoshowamoredetailedgrid.
Sayacommandtointeractwithanareaofthegrid:Saysomethinglike,“Tapnumber”or

SwitchbetweenDictationModeandCommandMode
Whenyouʼreworkinginatextinputarea—forexample,writingadocument,email,ormessage—you
caneasilyswitchbetweenDictationmodeandCommandmodeasneeded.InDictationmode(the
default),anywordsyousaythatarenʼtVoiceControlcommandsareenteredastext.InCommand
mode,thosewordsareignoredandarenʼtenteredastext;VoiceControlrespondsonlytocommands.
Commandmodeisespeciallyhelpfulwhenyouneedtouseaseriesofcommandsandwantto
preventwhatyousayfrominadvertentlybeingenteredinatextinputarea.
ToswitchtoCommandmode,say“Commandmode.”WhenCommandmodeison,adarkiconofa
crossed-outcharacterappearsinthetextinputareatoindicateyoucanʼtdictate.Toswitchbackto
Dictationmode,say“Dictationmode.”
