Using DigitalColo r Mete r
DigitalColor Meter a nd your monitor work together to identify colors on your
screen based on the standard color gamuts defined by the Commission on
Illumination (CIE).
DigitalColor Meter can also identify colors usi ng the PAN TONE
®
system.
PA N T O N E i s a color-simulation system used to specify in k colors for high-
end printers. Colors are describ ed usi ng their pri nting in k formulation, which
is identifi ed by a specific PANTONE numb er. DigitalColor Meter perfor ms
color simulati on a nd provides PANTON E numbers for coated (CVC),
uncoated (UVC), and process (CVP) color samples. Use the PAN TONE
numbers when you have your work professionally pri nted to ensure that the
printer will use colors similar to those displayed on your screen.
Finally, you can use DigitalColor Meter to identify th e RGB (red, green, blue)
values your computer uses to create colors.
Op ening DigitalColor Meter
Choose DigitalColor Meter from the Apple (K) menu. (It was installed with
your Apple Displays software.)
When you launch DigitalColor Meter, its window opens on your monitor.
