Chapter 3. Administering the Kurzweil 3000 Network
Kurzweil 3000 for Macintosh Network Guide 59
Uninstalling an Engine
Use the following procedure to uninstall a Kurzweil 3000 Engine.
You must run the Administrator on the computer on which the Engine is
installed. You cannot uninstall an Engine that is installed on another
computer.
You must also have the USB License Key available in order to complete this
procedure.
Uninstalling the Engine software does not remove the Kurzweil 3000
Network folder, as some of its contents, such as the EventLog file, and the
User folder’s files may be of continuing use to you. For example, if you are
uninstalling the Engine as a troubleshooting procedure, and plan to reinstall
it immediately, you will probably want to keep all of the User folder’s
information intact. See The Kurzweil 3000 Network Folder on page 21.
Also, when you uninstall the Engine, the USB License Key drivers are not
removed from the Engine computer. If you intend to reinstall the Engine on
this computer, this is not an issue. If you want to uninstall the drivers, see
Appendix B, Removing the USB License Key Drivers.
To uninstall the Engine software:
1. Start the Administrator and choose Administer this computer from the
Starting Points window. See Starting the Administrator on page 35.
2. Disconnect any users that are currently logged on to the Engine. See
Disconnecting Users from an Engine on page 45.
3. Insert the License Key into a USB port.
4. Select Remove Engine from this Computer from the Engine menu.
An Authenticate window appears.
5. Enter the Name and/or Password for a Macintosh account with Admin
privileges.
6. Click OK.
