Connect a microphone to a computer running Logic Pro
You can connect a microphone to your computer to record your voice, an instrument, or
any other sound to an audio track. You can connect a microphone to your computers audio
input port, a USB port, or to an audio interface connected to your computer. You can also
use your computers built-in microphone to record sound.
Connect a microphone to your computer
Do one of the following:
Connect the microphone to an input on the audio interface using a standard XLR cable.
Connect a USB microphone to your computers USB port on your computer. Choose the
USB microphone as the track’s input source.
Connect an audio interface to your computers Thunderbolt or USB port, then connect a
microphone to the audio interface for recording.
Connect an audio mixer or console to an audio interface, then connect the interface to
your computer.
If your computer has an audio input port, connect the microphone to the audio input,
then choose Built-in Input as the track’s input source.
If you’re using your computers built-in microphone, choose Built-in Microphone as the
input source in Logic Pro > Preferences > Audio > Devices.
After you connect a microphone, you choose the input source for the track you want to
record to; you can also turn on monitoring to hear sound from your microphone as you
play. You can choose the input source in the New Tracks dialog when you create a track, or
choose it from the Input slot on the track’s channel strip in the Mixer or the inspector.
You can also Set the input format in the Mixer or the inspector so that it matches the
format of the microphone.
Connect an electric instrument to a computer running
LogicPro
You can connect an electric instrument, such as an electric guitar or bass, to your
computer to play and record in an audio track. You can record the sound from your guitar
to an audio track, and use the amps and pedalboard effects to shape your guitar sound.
There are several ways to connect an electric instrument to your computer.
