Choosing the current keyboard layout
To choose a ke yboard layout while working in an applicatio n
progra
m
, you can do one of t he follow ing:
m Pull down the Keyboard
m
enu and choose the keyboard
layout you want to use. You can now type in the language
corresponding to the layout you chose.
m If you know whats listed in the Keyboard
m
enu, press
x
S
pace Bar to switch to the next section of the list w ithout
open ing the
m
enu. Press x

ption
S
pace Bar to switch to
the next choice within the sa
m
e section.
Choosing an inpu t

ethod
The

apanese

anguage Kit contains
Kotoeri,
special software
known as an
input
m
ethod
.
The input
m
ethod deter
m
ines what co
m
bination of Katakana,
H
ir ag ana, and
R
o
m
aji produce s each word of Kanji. The input
m
ethod also deter
m
ines whether you type text directly into a
docu
m
ent, or into a separate window first.
Ko toeri was auto
m
atically installed with your kit and appears in
the Keyb oard
m
enu in the section for
J
apanese input
m
ethods. If
you like, you can install
m
ore than one inpu t
m
ethod for a single
language. All input
m
ethods are listed in the Keyboard
m
enu.
The Kotoeri icon appears in your
m
enu bar when you select
Ko toeri in the Keyboard
m
enu.

You can re

ove keyboard layouts you dont use.
To do this, open the

yste

file

inside your

yste

Folder
)
and drag to the trash any layouts
you dont need. Then restart your co
m
puter.
